November 6, 200915 yr I remember when I finished grade 12, I got an OP 16 (Pretty average). Then QTAC sent me a letter informing me that I didn't qualify for any of the 6 University degrees I had applied for Thinking back to then and looking at now, I'll be getting my Diploma of IT in 2 weeks and starting Uni at the start of next year. Best thing I ever did was not do good enough - don't underestimate the power of TAFE! I'm so glad I did that course because now not only did I meet a bucketload of cool people but I actually won't be alone for lectures next year As Base said, don't stress about your marks. There are always other options and ways through the system so don't beat yourself up because you didn't do exponentially well in some messed up ranking system that is the worst part about our education system. November 6, 200915 yr Best thing I ever did was not do good enough - don't underestimate the power of TAFE! I went straight into uni (B.Architecture) first year and made a few friends with guys that came over from TAFE who did architectural computing or something and seriously, Ryza can't be more right. The amount of crap they give us at uni has little to do with anything. TAFE seems to have gotten straight to the point with everything they teach. If uni didn't have so many useless courses, my degree can easily be done in 2 years. They'd argue that it's expanding horizons and making us look beyond but I really think they should lead somewhere... eg: They made us learn how to make flash animations in an architecture course My favourite was the good old "Is this the best seat in the room?" poll. hehe, nearly all the seats in my exam room/hall had phallic symbols drawn in between your legs so when you look down you go "WOAH, I'VE A MASSIVE ____" or "man.. November 6, 200915 yr i'm almost done with my undergad now, 2 exams left and yr 12 seems a distant memory. Its only been 3 years. A funny thing also is for some people you realise how much you miss that kind of work whereas for others they can't stand the thought of doing anymore. Maybe its just me but i get really bored after 4 months off from uni. Suppose its a good thing i've still got ~4 years of study left Anyway, well done to those just finished and I hope some wickedly cool doors open up for you! If not, then there's always PR!
November 6, 200915 yr omg ... i have my exams next year .... atm i will be doing modern history, IPT, SDD, general math, standard english, and studies of relgion ... .. at the moment i know for a fact that i gonna fail SDD ... had like 4 teachers in the last year ... all of them cant teach the subject ... ps can't spell ... so thats marks off for english aready .... lol tafe here i come

SDD you do codes so basicly if yea get good at it you can make games or progarms ... IPT is just another computein course that can help you get a job doing IT somewere ... well my dream was to become a games designer but i dont think thats gonna happen .. so therefore website design or somethink in IT ....

It should be named something like "Diploma of Information Technology & Bachelor of Interactive Games and Entertainment." November 7, 200915 yr Going into TAFE first before uni is a good thing in my opinion. You're not "wasting" a year as many people typically think. The skills you pick up (and you WILL pick up) in TAFE will push you far in your uni degree. Extra skills = better grades (assuming you put them to good use). These extra skills earn you better marks in uni because no one has them except you. Better grades = confidence. Confidence in what I do is something I think is important because it provides a driving force to learn more and do better (essentially creates a chain reaction where you learn and do better than you previously did... November 7, 200915 yr You don't choose the specific thing you want to do when you go to Uni to do a course. What will happen is that you will enrol, be accepted (sometimes), then you select your subjects that correspond to the things you want to do. You can ask Gunner what he's doing, I won't know until I start early next year. Though you can't just choose one, you have to choose a few. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
