September 29, 200915 yr set up a command prompt window and leave it on a " ping gamingsa.com -t " then next time your kicked check it to see what the pings to the server were at the time. If there high your net is stuffed , if not theres something else going on. AAPT arnt renouned for a premium low ping network. there good and cheap but there are better for gaming. http://www.whirlpool.net.au is your friend when it comes to network issues :hi:

September 30, 200915 yr I have been ringing and mailing TPG for days. but still no real luck. Slow speeds and long pings but I think the only way to go will be the guys with the BIG stick http://www.tio.com.au/ Rim Information it looks like most of QLD is on RIM exchanges. so we can't get any faster them around 3Mb/s :wounded1: Edited September 30, 200915 yr by Pudgeinabowl http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff136/paulwar_photos/735c4e74-282e-49b6-99c3-6c443f8c759f.jpg MSI970A Gaming Pro Carbon - AMD FX-8350 - 12GBytes - GTX 750 Ti 2GBytes
September 30, 200915 yr I was just talking to the Telstra's North QLD Area Mangers secretary, (that as close as I could get to the man) asking them why we are still on a RIM? and what was the big fat cable that telstra laid last year out to this place? She said she would get back to me ..... So I will probably never hear from them again, but last time I rang them to find when my town was going to get ADSL on, they keep me up to date with info via email... http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff136/paulwar_photos/735c4e74-282e-49b6-99c3-6c443f8c759f.jpg MSI970A Gaming Pro Carbon - AMD FX-8350 - 12GBytes - GTX 750 Ti 2GBytes
September 30, 200915 yr use http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/viewprovider.php? to see whether of the other ISP's are doing anything at the exchange in your area... http://i783.photobucket.com/albums/yy116/IINoddyII/aux1_zpsab5224fd.png
September 30, 200915 yr Yarp..I have the same prob..Telstra are selling ADSL2 on my rim..that doesn't support ADSL2..so when those ppl who bought it go online etc...my ping goes thru the roof. Would say that is whats happening with you guys too...Telstra are no help as these ppl go online after 5pm ish i.e. after work...The actual Telstra ppl who solve this prob finish at 5pm..so they cant run a line test (when its happening) and find a fault...GRRRR http://i614.photobucket.com/albums/tt221/Chalice00/chalicenewsig-1.png
September 30, 200915 yr I will been keen to find someone here who has a telstra 8000/348k plan and see what speed they get, but telstra would be mad to let their costumers have more speed, because that would mean a BIG fine from the ACCC. http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff136/paulwar_photos/735c4e74-282e-49b6-99c3-6c443f8c759f.jpg MSI970A Gaming Pro Carbon - AMD FX-8350 - 12GBytes - GTX 750 Ti 2GBytes
September 30, 200915 yr I have helped chalice log this for the ISP, created a batch file that pinged the loopback, the router, the isp, gsa servers and google, each command adds to to a log file, unfortunatley yes it gave the isp enough proof of what was goin on but telstra failed to resolve, as he said he is on a rimm and there a couple of ADSL 2+ Users i create a batch file similar to this and just emailed the isp every time we had dramas simple ping to ip & name, with -n, for number of times to ping, and >> allows the log file to be amended.. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<Copy & paste Into Notepad - Save As Ping.bat>>>>>>>> md c:\logdir\ echo. September 30, 200915 yr I will been keen to find someone here who has a telstra 8000/348k plan and see what speed they get, Well I have one of them and I'm on a RIM... I sync at 6.5MB and have downloaded at 650kB/s. At the start of the year for a few months I used to get the dreaded 3MB limit in the evenings (when Telsta have too many people on a RIM they limit everyone to 3MB...not a problem for the 1.5MBers but a pain if you're paying for an "up to" 8MB connection). I was looking at going back to 1.5MB but it just got better after a couple of months..maybe a few ADSL users moved out or changed to 1.5MB plans. So how do you become an expert suicide bomber? teabagging is for kids .... Real Men "Potato Sack".
September 30, 200915 yr I think he's referring to his town ozpainman, but I'm not sure I was troubleshooting with War the other night and he syncs @ 8032/384kbps but his download is capped @ ~3mbps with bursts to 3.5, so yeah it seems like it's RIM shaping but the thing is that he lives like 600m from the exchange, so a RIM is unlikely http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. September 30, 200915 yr yes I was talking local ozpainman but any info is good to know:) , because they would do the same everywhere. http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff136/paulwar_photos/735c4e74-282e-49b6-99c3-6c443f8c759f.jpg MSI970A Gaming Pro Carbon - AMD FX-8350 - 12GBytes - GTX 750 Ti 2GBytes
September 30, 200915 yr Well if his exchange is full and the RIM had ports then he may be on that RIM. All you can do it put up with it and maybe you get lucky and the other 8MB plan customers move away or go back to 1.5MB, then they stop throttling the backhaul from RIM to exchange and you get your speeds back. Did you ever have faster than 3MB when you first signed up? I started off with a 1.5 plan from inet and changed to a 1.5 with internode then upgraded to an 8mb when the kids usage started to effect my gaming... So how do you become an expert suicide bomber? teabagging is for kids .... Real Men "Potato Sack".
October 1, 200915 yr I found this image so yes it must of been faster at the start, this was when I signed up "Saturday, December 27, 2008, 7:50:00 PM" http://i444.photobucket.com/albums/qq162/paulwar2/newspeed.jpg http://i444.photobucket.com/albums/qq162/paulwar2/boradbandspeed.jpg http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff136/paulwar_photos/735c4e74-282e-49b6-99c3-6c443f8c759f.jpg MSI970A Gaming Pro Carbon - AMD FX-8350 - 12GBytes - GTX 750 Ti 2GBytes
October 1, 200915 yr off topic, but has anyone had the indians come to your door and guarantee that you will get 24mbit/s. i tell them my attenuation plus distance from the exchange is far too great to even get close to that number but they 'assure' me that i will get at least 20mbit/s in a worse case scenario. i want to slap them. http://imgur.com/e5y6e.gif You've already ruined these forums for me, I have no desire to read your rhetoric or the pathetic arguments you get yourself in to, or the personal vendetta you have against me, so please, do not talk to me. October 1, 200915 yr I suppose this means your taking the cricket bat and the media with you as well? http://www.bigd.com.au/_bigdfiles/sigs/mh-sig-2016-11.png
October 1, 200915 yr they have not rang me back yet , I was going to ring them but I don't want to seem to pushy YET , so I wil ring them again on Monday, if I get no joy from that I mite have to go up and see them I'm not sure why you think you're on a RIM War... it's a remote integrated multiplexer, basically it runs fibre (or in bad cases copper) to a RIM (like a super mini exchange) which then feeds the copper lines to premises. Your town has a proper exchange, which you are very close to, and due to the size of the town I seriously doubt that there are RIMs being used. http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au/viewsuburb.php?Abbrev=COLINVLE (Note the green dot) The reason ADSL2+ wouldn't be at your exchange yet would be Telstra not having a business case to upgrade the DSLAM to a ADSL2+ variant, and although they may have laid new fibre backhaul to townsville, the subscriber base may not cost justify the $200,000 or whatever it is needed for the upgrade. If everyone in the town was on TPG or iiNet or Telstra, then perhaps that ISP could cost justify (economically viable) a updated DSLAM installation in Collinsville, but I have the feeling that you'll need to wait for the NBN before meaningful speeds are released to you. As for your immediate problem, which is your 8mbps connection being throttled to 3mbps, that is definitely a pertinent question, and hopefully the TCW representative can answer it for you, otherwise you'll have to go banging on TPG's doors http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. October 1, 200915 yr oh I just got it wrong I under stand now thanks big guy Edited October 1, 200915 yr by Pudgeinabowl http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/ff136/paulwar_photos/735c4e74-282e-49b6-99c3-6c443f8c759f.jpg MSI970A Gaming Pro Carbon - AMD FX-8350 - 12GBytes - GTX 750 Ti 2GBytes
October 2, 200915 yr The reason ADSL2+ wouldn't be at your exchange yet would be Telstra not having a business case to upgrade the DSLAM to a ADSL2+ variant, and although they may have laid new fibre backhaul to townsville, the subscriber base may not cost justify the $200,000 or whatever it is needed for the upgrade. Most DSL provided by Telstra is on an ADSL2+ enabled DSLAM, they just dont always sell 2+ ports on it at every exchange. Often the older DSLAMS are very limited in there backhaul bandwidth for no other reason than T hasnt "got round" to upgrading it yet. Even some of the newer ISAMs are still connected via small (16mb)copper links. Or the DSLAM he is connected to is conjested. A solution an older and smarter tech has sugested to many Telstra staff in similar positions is to apply for ADSL2+ with T and they will have thier phoneline swapped over to the new infrastructure (new ISAM connected by 100mb or 1gb ethernet , if there are spare ports) then before the 2 weeks grace period is up ring T and say the service isnt what you thought it would be and go back to ADSL 1. They wont change you back to the older DSLAM they just configre your port as ADSL 1. Then you apply for a ADSL2+ plan with another isp with better fees. :hi:
October 2, 200915 yr Just a note I'm not sure were evryone lives, but i know for sure Aussie BroadBand, cant wait on telstra and have been fitting there own equipment into the telstra exchanges to offer there own connection...... They haven't been as lazy as others... http://aussiebroadband.com.au/availability/ =]DI[= GbohicaL http://www.deathinc.com.au Just Call me BOHICA http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u202/midaliasteele/GbohicaL.jpg
