Hello chaps, a mixed bag:

In the server rules, it states that 'covert ops' missions are permitted. Does this mean it's OK to C4 or mine a main base, as opposed to camping it? If not, what does this rule refer to?

What's the 1:30 rule when starting a round for? I've been back for a good few patches now. What exactly is the bug and does it still exist?

On top of the scope of US weapons is a bright red thing sticking out. Looks like a wee knitting needle or something. What the hell is that?

1. Covert missions and mining bases isn't exactly encouraged because it just starts more trouble and in the end, draws players away from the fight. Seeing that most mains have a dome of death around them now it's nearly impossible to get close anyway.

2. Squad bug is caused by people teamswapping at the start of the round, creating a squad and then getting teamswapped back. The 1:30 rule just acts as a prevention method for players trying to get around the autobalance and making squads, though if people are caught *deliberately* making the squad bug there are serious consequences.

For instance, if some noob wanted a chopper, and wasn't on the side of the team who has them, they might swap over at the very start of the round countdown, make a squad, then get auto-balanced back onto the side they were on originally. This will make the bug.

3. As far as I know the ACOG scope has a fibre-optic light gathering rail which illuminates the reticle, removing the need for a battery. That would be the red rail that runs along the top of the scope.

The BigD server rules can be found here.

1. The covert missions rule pretty much says you may enter an enemy base for the express intention of destroying enemy assets and equipment but you may not attack an enemy base with the intention of racking up cheap kills as players spawn. As Ryza said this isn't even possible anymore on many maps as there is the dome of death protecting many main bases in the more recent versions of the game.

Sabotage/Covert Op's - Is an accepted playing style.

Covert Ops is a stealth mission and should be carried out in small numbers or even solo.

Move in, destroy assets, get out and you have the right to defend yourself if needed.

2. As Ryza said, though he forgot to say what the squad bud actually was, when the server has a "squad bug" one or both teams will find themselves unable to create squads for no apparent reason. Needless to say this is pretty much a game breaker in most cases, and requires that the server is reset to fix the problem.
