Posted August 20, 200915 yr Hey guys I bought my new CPU & MoBo today installed everything fine except one little knack. Whenever I start up I get "Installion error IDE not compatible with this platform" or something similar. Its not a major problem though it is annoying, I have tried disabling and unistalling from the device manager but no luck. Any idea guys? Much appreciated, Tyla. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t136/varan92/sc_ii_2.png
August 20, 200915 yr Do you get that message after your OS has booted? Probably a driver problem if that's the case. What OS are you running? http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/merc.bmp On the topic of shiny auscam... the sound they made while bush walking made it seem like I was doing mean things to little furry animals inside my pants
August 20, 200915 yr Do you have anything attached to the IDE ports? If not, try disabling them in the BIOS. There comes a time in every musician's life when they must decide what instrument they should master. Few. If any are ever worthy enough to master. The cowbell.
August 20, 200915 yr If it is during the bootup process, change your hard drive options in the bios to AHCI/RAID which will be SATA rather than IDE legacy based. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. August 21, 200915 yr Author Nope, it's during my startup. I pass Windows logo it's when I hit my desktop. It comes up with a New Hardward Found window but says it failed. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t136/varan92/sc_ii_2.png
August 21, 200915 yr If you have nothing connected to the IDE ports on your computer, sounds like it might be a driver issue. If reinstalling the drivers doesn't work and you dont plan on using the IDE ports, i'd disable them in the BIOS and see how that goes. If its still no joy, maybe try a BIOS update or take it back to where you got it from. There comes a time in every musician's life when they must decide what instrument they should master. Few. August 21, 200915 yr Author I require the IDE for my CD-DVD I only have one IDE port on my new motherboard as I did for my old. But I'll be upgrading that ASAP. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t136/varan92/sc_ii_2.png
August 21, 200915 yr Author Rather than make a new thread how would I go buying a GIGABYTE GTS250? Will my PSU stand up to it? I currently have 450W http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t136/varan92/sc_ii_2.png
August 21, 200915 yr Rather than make a new thread how would I go buying a GIGABYTE GTS250? Will my PSU stand up to it? I currently have 450W Your PSU has to have at least 28A on the 12V rails, as long as it has that, your 450W will be fine. The GTS 250 is a rebranded 9800GTX+, and as such, it basically contends with the HD4850 at the <= $150 mark. Sometimes the NV wins, sometimes the ATI wins, but their performance overall is pretty much on par.
