Not yet but there is a future expansion that will allow this called ambulation

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=abMEVENz1jQ]YouTube - Eve Online - "Walking in Stations" Ambulation Video[/ame]

vid of ambulation. The ship you see in the video is of a cruiser class ship, one of the smaller ships in the game.

is it free 2 play yet?

If you can make enough ingame currency you can buy game time with it, otherwise no bout 20$ aussie month

Are the space fights controlled like your flying a plane? Or is it a more slower, click and select an option etc

its a click n point type. Largest fight i have been in was between 1600 people all in the same system...was epic

No way.. i played demo of eve and its one of those games you spend your life on.. No way on earth would I want to be playing more then 1 of those kinda games.. Which is just like wow etc..at the same time, as you would then get no time for life..

I dont currently play any of em tho.. I didn't think it was worth the $20 a month.

The money i have spent on eve subscriptions is far less then i would have spent on new pc/xbox games to keep me entertained for the same time frame. Ive been playing eve for almost 2 years and ive come no where near clsoe to doing everything.

Smokejumper if you wanna play eve give up wow :)

eve is so much better anyway, there is and actual sense of risk when flying your ship. Also no other game has such a diverse political aspect.

Here are some links to battle reports players have written

http://www.scrapheap-challenge.com/viewforum.php?f=34

http://go-dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/Verite/influence.png

Here is a link to the sov map. Sov is how an alliance controls territory. You gain sov by deploying Player owned stations on moons in systems. and if you can defend them you gain sov. Sov is a level system, sov 1 , sov 2, sov 3.

With each sov level increase, the holding alliance gains an advantage.

Sov 1, basical level of sov. You pos'es require less fuel to run, thus being cheaper to mantain.

sov 2 allows you to put cyno generators on your poses. This allows capital ships to jump to the system the cyno gen is in.

sov 3 allows all the rest plus cyno jammers. Cyno jammers stop you from deploying a cyno in the system, thus stoping an invading force from moving a capital fleet into your systems.

The map i linked. Every dot is a system and the colours area's are current alliance that own the systems.

Currently the most feird alliance in eve is Pandemic legion. They are highly selective about who they let join(insure only awesome piltos geat in) And they have the biggest income. They bring in around 800billion isk(inter stella kredit) per month in perspective about 200billion sells for around $3k real life dollars.

I am currently part of the Sons of Tangra alliance

well i love to play the game freelancer with the discovery mod ... and that was awesome with all the ships you can play etc ... and know i am looking to buy this .. anyone know how much it is ?

I don't like the fact that I believe there's no end to researching/upgrades for your player, so when you join the game you are at a major disadvantage to someone who's been playing for 2yrs or more due to the fact they are xx amount of years ahead in skill upgrades and you will never catch up..

Would of been good for a few limits on things.

If it was free id be playing it for sure. But I just got the feeling its one of those games that its extremely in depth to keep you there and continually spending money to keep your stats going up or whatever..

Fear is another word for weakness.

I'd be very interested if time and money weren't a limitation. I really does look like a lot of fun.

I have a thing against paying a subscription for games as firstly its an ongoing cost and secondly i would feel the need to play almost purely to make it worthwhile.

Well unlike wow we dont pay for expansions. I think of it like this. I pay 20$ for one of my accounts. Most new release games ive played have only kept me interested for about month 2 months at max. Most new games are 80 + so that is still about 40 dollars amonth, 20 bucks more then i spend on eve.

also you have the option to pay for a year which is like $180, thats new releaser games i wouldnt have needed to bought

And also isnt the new pr going to subscription based :p

2 months!?

I probably had 2,000 hours on arma 1, it cost me $95

Now Ive got arma 2 and I'd expect the same time from it, It was only $50.

If it was like $3 a month id already would have bought 1 or 2 months worth to try it out lol. Tho I think $18 is a bit steep.

One day maybe Ill give it a go for a month or so, I just didnt get enough from the 14day trial to make me wanna pay them $18 a month for it.. Tho I think it sucks you gotta pay $5 registration + the $18 for the month, They should have a deal for new comers to get in cheap and try get em hooked like buy 2 months get 1 free or something, not charge extra lol.

Considering the 14days trail for people like me with no eve experience or real life friends playing it, I had no idea wtf I was doing or supposed to do, I had a few problems with the tutorial I thought it was lacking abit.. And felt such a complex game should have a far longer trial period and give more information about what you can do in the game, give a few examples etc.

I gave it up caz it was easier then pulling my credit card out.. lol

I reckon they should deffinatley get a half price deal for your first month or something for new comers.

I played arma for quite a bit, think me bullet, ablack, few others i forget who kinda got it going on bigd but after awhile the bugs just made me lose interest. If they hadnt released a beta version of Arma II i might of considered buying it, I'm not going to give them any of money for a buggy pos.

Eve is a game you cannot play solo, its a multiplayer game after all.

oh where did u get arma II for 50$>?

cdwow.com.au

Re - monthly subscriptions. I think its fine for MMO's to charge monthly subscriptions - you end up getting a ton more free content compared to other games with no subscription costs (FPS's etc) where the only thing you will get for free is a few bug-fixing patches.

Eve isn't really my cup of tea i dont think - im still waiting for another medieval/fantasy MMO that isn't a complete fail/WoW (been there done that) to come out

Likewise, although perhaps it would be nice to have an MMO steer away from the fantasy element. A MMO RPG medieval based game thats semi realistic would be sick. Think like 100 years war or crusade eras. And if you managed to get a player base similar to eve for example, you could have constant running skirmishes and epic battles. i think i'm dreaming though....

I agree i want a realistic mmo game..

Mount & Blade is starting beta on there game, not a MMO yet tho.. But its got potential.. Small game small company.

Game is pretty fun, just needs multiplayer now :p

Never played a game like it before.

Oh and eve really needs an AUD currency option.. For such a big player base, they only have 2 options for currency? How gay.

i loved eve, i made multiple trial accounts but i can never muster the cash to pay for it.

great game, lots of fun, takes concentration and all that jazz but the greatest part of the game was the fact that is freakin HUGE!

really, i remember sitting there and looking around at all the star systems and nebulas and realizing that i am NOTHING compared to the size of eve, plus the fact that its upside down backwards and all this other crap, gravity blows.

  • 2 weeks later...

well after subscribing, just got gallente cruisers II and electronics V.

me and a mate got a mining/hauling racket going, 33m ISK for 4m veldspar, its average but it gets the job done.

working my way to get the covert ops Helios, warping while cloaked and cyno ftw!

well i love to play the game freelancer with the discovery mod ... and that was awesome with all the ships you can play etc ... and know i am looking to buy this .. anyone know how much it is ?

if you're still interested its $5 compared to the usual $17.

plus thats a free month, on top of that, its about 17 bucks a month like wow.

definately worth the moneys though.
