The next Combat Sims session in Brisbane is this Saturday - 1 August 2009.

Time: 0800hrs

Duration: 6 hours plus bbq at half-time

Location: Baden Powell Park Scout Camping Grounds - Samford

Price: $35 per person including gun hire & bbq + $2 camo hire (optional - I think that's the price)

This is intended to be a noob-friendly session for anyone who hasn't attended a milsim event before. Any Brisbanites on the forum who haven't been to a milsim and who do not attend this one will summarily be referred to as small felines.

More info here.

Let me know if you wish to register for this.

Deadline for registration is Thursday 30/7/09.

i was talking to a bunch of the blokes from work about this, how noob friendly can this be?, or does it have to be full on. it looks heaps cheaper than PB.

i would actually have gone to this, but i have to work. (again, which also means i miss out on a sweet 21st)

also what does it cost to build the systems, what kind of out lay would i be looking at.

$800-$1500 per gun, if you want it compatible with the CombatSims (MilSims) guns aka. Fragtag system. www.fragtag.com.au

This is my weapon, probably around $1200 fully kitted out.

You could probably knock up a DIY tagger using Milestag system for $200-$300 depending on your handyskills. so if you had a group of mates you only wanted to play against, this would be the way to go. see here http://www.djdrthq.com/ this guy is the king of DIY Milestag (click on the milestag link on the page for all the weapons he has made).

One of the main reasons I wanted to play combatSims was that it was SOOO much cheaper than paintball. The range and experienc eis much better IMO.

CombatSim/Milsim crew are very friendly, more than happy to show you the ropes and welcome newcomers. Get the gang together and come give it a try.

Alright. Tonnie is in. Who else?

Bugger. But sounds like a plan. It'd be nice if any of the deployment dates just happened to coincide with a bunch of cheap flights being promoted.

Ah bugger. Oh well; can hire cams if you want - but the chest rig will definitely be handy.

Compared to your average paint ball or 'laser skirmish' session it is full-on. But we're not all athletes (many are far from it) and not everyone knows everything. If you're happy to jog around the bush for a few hours, follow orders and work with a squad to kill things and complete other objectives, then you'll be fine.

A rambo attitude and excessive messing around however is a good way to piss everyone off. We're all there to have fun, but if you want to be silly, go to a public skirmish session.

edit: the above represent my own opinion, not that of Combat Sims Int or its other members

Just had pricing confirmed - it's $35 not $40 as I'd thought... and that includes the BBQ lunch.

Well that was a pretty light and fun session - the first couple of hours was a few drills and training and the mission wasn't as organised as usual due to a few people being away (hence we had no maps etc.)

Will post some pics later, though I only really had the camera out once everyone was gone. Thanks to Tonnie & Poncho for coming along - hope you enjoyed yourselves.

I'll see if I can get that geese assault video to you Tonnie - it's 60MB

any recommendations on where to upload a 58MB file? Even zipping with bzip2 made bugger all difference as it's already compressed

Hehe well next time we will get a pick with MORE BigD guys and us all camouflaged in the bush.

Edit: Matto I don't think the age requirement is 18 (Not sure of the minimum) there is a guardian authority section on the paperwork for those under 18. Maybe someone else here can clarify for you.

Orders starting with SOMEBODY usually wind up being completed by NOBODY.

The minimum age is 18. This has been relaxed slightly for individuals recommended by members but is assessed on a case by case basis. I'm not sure if there's a strict minimum but if there is I expect it'd be around the 16 or 17 mark due to the physical and adult nature of the activity (and language).

With this Combat Sim, what do you end up shooting at each other?
