Posted July 17, 200915 yr I have a GeForce 9800 GT. If I install drivers anywhere after about the 178.xx series I get crashes in PR. I just crashed out of Muttrah City. I was using spiffo new drivers but have to roll back. Every time I try a newer version it crashes. The screen flickers a little first every now and then and then eventually I get a BSOD. So... something was done at a fundamental level in the programming which screws with this PR/BF2 engine. Is it just me ? July 17, 200915 yr when installing new drivers, do you clean the old ones out completely first or just load them over the top of the old ones ?? if you just load over the top look for a driver cleaner and ensure that the old drivers are completely removed. then load up the new ones after a reboot as see how it goes. http://www.madhouseau.com/misc/sigs/darthsig.jpg

July 17, 200915 yr Wow 178 series was a while ago (weren't they?) . I have a 8800GT (basically the same card) and while I don't know which version I'm currently on, they're definitely newer than march this year. July 17, 200915 yr Author Thanks all... I found a freeware driver cleaner which has a pretty involved process: nVidia: 1. Unplug nic card or modem from net or disconnect 2. Remove nvidia from add/remove programs 3. Reboot into safe mode (F8 during boot up) 4. On reboot into safe mode WinXP SP1/SP2 will auto detect and install drivers. Just let it do its thing. If you can cancel out of the auto install hardware wizard then skip the rest and run Driver Cleaner! If you can NOT cancel out of auto detect wizard then... 5. Navigate to device manager->display adapters->highlight nVidia and click uninstall or remove but don't reboot 6. Disable any AntiVirus Software (If you don't disable is than it could give trouble) 7. Run Cab Cleaner (not needed, but recommended) 8. Run Driver Cleaner 9. Empty recycle bin and reboot 10. Install the new drivers Pill_Monster I will download those drivers... actually the third set in 25 minutes (*blush*) but argh... you know how it is... I was on XtremeG 190.xx before... not quite 190.38... but I'll try them. Thanks all. p.s. July 17, 200915 yr I had graphic issues with my 285... i thought it was the card, but it ended up being my Logitech Cam Program that runs in sys tray.... as long as i close that i have no textures issues or crashes anymore.. A mate of mine who i gave Pr to was BSODing and the only way we fixed it was with a reformat. he pc is fine now too.. Psyrus - that's what happened to your SL in Muttrah tonight - I was on top of a crane with a HAT trying to get that damned MEC apc and I crashed out to BSOD... harsh words were spoken here... Hehe no worries sandy, we figured you got sick of it (as we all were) and within about 10 minutes the rest of us had left too, so don't worry too much... the squads in the hills, the cobras and the lack of t3h ApCzorz led to us being completely smashed.
