Posted July 1, 200915 yr Hi, currently I am in progress (or was) of making the Campaign Trailer. However, for some reason I can't play .MP4 files in either Windows Media Player (Classic/10) as they instantly crash both of these players when I attempt to open them, nor can I open them in the XviDPSP 5.0 program where I encode them for use in Sony Vegas. So I'm pretty much screwed. When I try to open them I get an error: "Attempted to Divide by Zero". Every time. I don't understand why all .MP4 files would suddenly stop working with all these video programs with the exception of DivX player and VLC player. I think I might have to format if there isn't a solution to this. Edited July 1, 200915 yr by YAK [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
July 1, 200915 yr Author Yes, I can play .MP4 files but I can't open them with the converter I use. Sony vegas won't take .MP4 video files so I can't put them straight in. Previously I could just import them into XviD4PSP and encode them into an a high quality .avi format but it won't read them any more. I don't care about playing them, just being able to use them. Nevermind, I managed to fix it by uninstalling Nero player (which decided it wanted to mess up every codec known to man so they would play in it) and re-installing all my video programs/codecs. July 1, 200915 yr There is a program called GOM player... I use it for pretty much anything http://www.filehippo.com/download_gom_player/ http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff309/Holy-Jim/GunSignatureTemplate12.png http://account.pureprofile.com/Login/?referrer=3195522
July 1, 200915 yr or just grab the k-lite codec pack http://img234.imageshack.us/img234/645/rx2yg8.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmp http://cache.www.gametracker.com/server_info/203.14.173.90:19577/b_350x20_C692108-381007-FFFFFF-000000.png
July 1, 200915 yr Yes it sounds like one of your codecs is corrupt - try installing the k-lite codec pack. vlc and xvid use their own codecs so that could explain why it is working in these programs
July 1, 200915 yr Klite codec pack has a reputation for having its own little idiosyncrasies with other video-type softwares, encoders in particular. You only ever really need 2, or 3 codecs. ffdshow, quicktime alternative lite and real alternative (if you watch .rm). And as Chief discovered, Nero was stuffing with it. I would of just reinstalled ffdshow with a problem like that. Question is, why do you have anything Nero installed?
