Hi

Need some help please?

I keep getting this message coming up when playing PR "Connection to the server lost" it then boots me back to the server screen where I need to log back onto a server again. It can happen straight up before I even get to pick a team or after I have been playing for some time. My ping is always showing good around 47. I am with Optus cable have the desk top connected direct to the cable modem. I have tried resetting the modem no difference. It never happens on BF2 or any time I am on the net just in PR.

Any ideas

Thx

Rat

So you can play BF2 for a long time and that never happens? Kinda rules out the first three things that sprang to mind...

Is it only during peak hours of the day or does it happen pretty consistently whenever you try to play (various hours)?

QFT: Your computer is smart man. It tells you not to play the second worst PR map [burning Sands] (first is Wanda Shan).

QFT: if you dont get pissed off when you lose you dont care enough

It does seem to be worse during peak, Like now I cannot stay connected more than 2mins on any of the BD servers. But still happens like 3am in the morning when not many people are on the net.

It may of happen a couple of times on BF2 but not lately that I can remember.,

thx

try a "daisy chain" of filters from your modem. Due to my poor as "expletive" aapt connection I used to suffer from horrendous dropouts during peak time until I used a $30 central splitter from your friend and mine Dick Smiths plus the std line filter and presto drop outs have reduced to a few every now and then. My 2 cents

Rat, I would suggest in that case, that you find out if your net is losing connection (probably due to PPP drop). Afaik the steps would be the continual ping in the background to gamingsa.com to see if at any point it loses connection and then reconnects the PPP, which would explain the bootouts. [this is whilst trying to play PR of course]

Can this be used on cable as my connection is not from the phone lines ?

thanks for the help

Hmmm it could also be a firewall issue, because I misunderstood the first post and thought you meant it was logging you out of the EA MS but you're just getting dropped from the actual bigD server. I assume USA servers exhibit the same problems?

Thanks very much. Your help is very appreciated.

I am off to bed now up at 4am for work so no hurry.I will get back on tomorrow and try and sort this out.

Just turned off my antivirus Nod32 and tried to log onto server 1 & 2 of BD no luck. This is the first night all week that it’s been that bad I could not even get to play a game at all.

thx

I'm getting the same problem, never happend like this before.

I am trying to get into the 1st server and it drops me before it loads. I have gotten to the squad screen a couple times then bam, gone again.

One thing I do notice is that in game my ping is constant but when I check how many ppl are in the server it's all over the place by a huge margin, I mean from 50 to 9000.

The only difference between now and my long time away is internode vs telstra. I'm with internode now.

It seems to be worst when the server is full but it's never been so bad that I can't even get in. It does not happen in wow or CSS.

Another thing, sometimes a web page will not be able to be found and when I retry, it's there.

EDIT// I power cycled my modem and switched my firewall off. This has never happend before, it's the same PC I've had in Amsterdam and Melbourne so why has it decided to hate PR now?

The only thing I can think of is that my internet from internode, sucks.

Best package they have too... :(

I'm a sad panda.

Mmmm, Internode you say? Me too, same symptoms, "Connection to Server Lost"

Take Psyrus' advice and set up a ping constant back to the server.

In the intirim, I am going to chase down a better UDP/TCP tool to monitor lost/corrupt/bad packets during the PR session. Not sure what or when the executable (process manager or connection manager) reports a "lost connection", I am interested (annoyed) enough to do some further analysis.

Keep you all posted.....

Started again can not get on PR really pissing me off.

What you have just said is what is happing to me but I am with optus cable.

It's seems my ping is all over the place on PR funny how this only happens on PR.

I just did a ping test with speedtest.net D/L 8.99mbps U/L 0.25mbps

That should be ok do you think ?
