I'd just like to clear something up.

I welcome all contributions from forum members but can you please keep them ON topic

 

I'd just want to gauge what the community feels from a teamwork point of view the quality in the recent releases releases.

 

vote for which one you prefer.

I think during community nights 0.856 takes the cake.

 

But I also take part in public games, and have been let down by the fact that the medic kit, although it is taken so often people rarely use it to heal and revive other people, and from what I have seen people just take it for the extra patches and the ability to heal themselves all the time.

 

(this is just one of many small things that grind my gears)

 

(now this might be due to an increase in the player count, but that is from other factors which I would prefer not to discuss. )

 

Hopefully this will be fixed in the next release.

i prefer 0.856 but befor its release/EA hype/Moddbhype pretty much 90% of the ppl on bigD servers were forum regulars which in turn allowed for more organised gameplay / teamwork.

 

*edit* ryza 2 good points the medic which is being changed :fans: and the commander role should be more useful again as they both premote teamwork.

 

but yeah i still prefer this version with the right squad.

I would have to say they are relatively even but because so few people played the last version because it was rubbish, .856 has the teamwork benefit. But as Smokee said it has declined of late, not because of .85 but because of the advertising brining in so many children and those that just want to stuff around.

No way, 0.8 had way more teamwork, as only the people who liked working as a team stuck around. I don't want to start another flame war like the one that ensued after the .8 release, but the way people had to pull together to defeat the enemy was great. I had no problem with the deviation, at least back then not everyone played just to get kills.

 

0.85 IMO is a step backwards towards Vanilla with the whole medic spam thing but I won't rant off about that, and not having the commander role fixed is a huge downside. I doubt we will ever see a useful commander again because of the stubborness about his role on behalf of a few (it doesn't matter if a few thousand people strongly disagree about the way his role has to be played, their all 'wrong')

 

Anyway, I actually enjoyed 0.8 ALOT more than 0.85. So yes - I preffered it.

 

I hold high hopes for the 0.86 patch....

There should be an option for "no difference in teamwork", as that is what I feel. I personally think that the whole "you need 6 squad members shooting to kill 1 guy, so there's obviously more teamwork" argument is completely ridiculous.

i'm not voting, because i'm not sure, i think people suck, and not many of them use to play PR, now alot of them do. sucky people makes pr sucky

.8 for teamwork .86 for rambos me being one of them sometimes.

 

For the exact reasons above If I wanted to stay alive and get kills I needed to be in a squad, now I can lone wolf and do the same thing due to the accuracy of the weapons.

It is due to people not the mod, even though they are different (the two mods) their is only one way forward and that is what te devs come up with so I'm not voting.

 

AS aresnik said, it's much easier to lone wolf (similar to Nilla) and kill lots of guys and complete objectives, but, imagine you were still running around like that but you had 5 other guys following your and watching your back and reviving you.

 

That's why I play as squad leader....but sad to say that people find it very hard to follow me during a fire fight. I turn around and everyone is gone :( I kill a couple of enemy soldiers but someone always ends up getting the jump on me.

I don't think there is a lack of teamwork in 0.85. The teamwork is more diluted simply due to the increase in new players. That doesn't mean the people who know how to play have regressed in teamwork.

 

0.8, to me, was inferior in almost every way.

And anyway, the medic spam was as bad in 0.8 (although yes, a head shot was a kill, but it was still the OP kit).

There is not that much difference in teamwork between the versions. If you ask me the big difference is in the playerbase.

 

0.8 = Many people didn't like it and left, especially the more action oriented players. Therefore the players who stayed and played 0.8 were the hardcore PR enthusiasts, this is what I think resulted in a higher standard of team play.

 

0.85 = Much more accessible to the unwashed masses (more action'y). Huge PR advertising of many different types has brought every vanilla Tom, Dick and Harry to come and play the game, which has in turn diluted the skill/teamwork level of the general player base.

 

 

What I have noticed is a huge decrease in the availability of good squad leaders and inter-squad teamwork. IMHO the presence of good squad leaders makes or breaks a game of PR. At the moment we very rarely have decent players squad leading resulting in a lack of teamwork both within and between the squads.

 

As the DEVs have said many a time, it doesn't matter what you do with the game code. Players are always hardcoded. The code in the game is not the issue. It is the players we need to focus on.

 

And again people need to stop whining about the standard of play on the servers and actually get in there and squad lead and do their part to lift the standard of play themselves.

last night was pretty good for squad work, i think mostly it is the INTERsquad work, they are generally focusing only on their own goal rather than talking with other squads, for me it's kinda turned into, ok so the three noob 3 man locked squads are over there, not building a firebase but have three logitrucks, so we will go over here and actually do what is needed. it kinda becomes be where the rest of your team isn't in terms of defending attacking and looking for caches.

I wasn't going to add my opinion but I may as well.

 

I left during 0.8 because the actual crux of the game, the shooting part, was unintuitive and random. I do not like that. It's been fixed now and it's much better.

 

The whole lonewolf thing, 0.8 vs 0.85 doesn't bother me. I actually think one should be able to lonewolf and I support it. A squad vs a lonewolf will win every time as long as the squad are any good.

 

As for the teamwork part, I have had really good rounds on every release and absolutely terrible ones. As long as the players that are on are working together, everything is sweet. Almost every public game I have ever played has 1-6 guys off somewhere doing something weird and sometimes I've been one of those 6 guys.

I agree with that. But its 0.856 actually fixing the mod up, resulting in an influx of new players, which i think on average has lowered the quality of overall team gameplay. (this is outside of the squad, for the most part squad play has been fine imo).

We all know the medic spam and constant resing problems will be fixed in the next version. And by the look of it the next version will be out very soon so stop whining about it!!

 

Commander is probably still useless though and you probably still can't fix bridges, complain about them :p

yes, the commander will most likely still be lacking the two pluralled proverbials (balls), and i will not be satisfied.

 

It might be nice, in the commander screen for the devs to add additional commo macros to the window, so youd have,

Gourmet has Nailed the Commander situation on the head (kinda..;))..

 

but when I go commander (which I will admit nowdays is far less often than I did in previous releases ),I'm never sure that peole are doing as "Advised" (vs Told) because they think I know what I'm doing or because of the admin thingo....

 

 

But joining a game and seeing that its going badly for the team...then going commander and getting said team to be a team then turning the match around and Winning makes it all worthwhile..
