Posted May 3, 200915 yr HeliPilot Goes to an Airshow -IMAGE HEAVY Hey guys, I managed to get a job at the Whitsunday Airshow 2009 as a gate guard (no I'm not a security guy, I was just draging the rope back every time a plane needed to get in) and whilst I was there I managed to snap a few shots (me having a very prime location about 5-6m from the runway) Anyway, I ended the day having a bit of a tour of an RAAF Roulette Trainer - the Pilatus PC-9/A. There was loads to see for a small little airshow including a Vietnam era Bell UH-1 Huey which was still in it's war time colours. There was also a very, extremely crazy, Pitt Special with it's pilot. Man was that guy crazy. Loads of other displays like the Caravan and Beaver flybys, the RAAF rescue chopper, Helicopter flybys, TigerMoth Aerobatics, RAAF Roulette Aerobatics. Anyway enough talking on my part, I'm gonna be putting photos up as soon as I get the bloody things on photobucket. I've also got loads of videos, that I will put on youtube once I get back to school. May 3, 200915 yr Oh those Tiger Moths are sexy, I've been up in one and the guy did a few acrobatics (for a price of course).. so fun much!
May 3, 200915 yr Author Xaboo, Oh I wish I got more photos of the Pitt Special. I got lots of videos of him, that little plane is INSANE! Righto, I might put a few more photo's in later but for now I'll just leave it. I tried putting a quick video on youtube but "an unknown error occured - try again" Edited May 3, 200915 yr by BaseJump http://i.imgur.com/DtNdckc.png [WC]Xavo|xXx:

May 3, 200915 yr Author not much fun flying into shute harbour when the wind is blowing a gale behind those hills! was chook doing any skydiving displays? yea actually, they did do one jump and some aerobatics in the air. I didn't get any photo's tho. http://i.imgur.com/DtNdckc.png [WC]Xavo|xXx:
May 3, 200915 yr Not too many things like the sweet sweet aroma of Avgas. That looks like a Pitt Special from up my way, based at Rutherford. http://users.on.net/~mperrin/images/les_mis_kindros.png You're all wrong, and I am always right, and the sooner you accept it, the happier you will be. That is all! Va Fan Culo
May 3, 200915 yr burnt avtur is one better over avgas. single piston engine at night is < than both of those. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v390/pennywise_pw/pennywiseevilfun.png -Evi|. PR Captain
May 3, 200915 yr I have stood at the tail of a boomerang (warbird) as it idled at the Caboolture airshow, I lost a few pieces of clothing that day. Great fun. I prefer to see warbirds than most other things, Helo's I love too. Mustangs, Spitfires are the most amazing aircraft. http://www.clan-tea.com/sigs/flames/Poncho-Temp.png Orders starting with SOMEBODY usually wind up being completed by NOBODY.
May 3, 200915 yr Good spot by the look of it... Would love to have been there with my DSLR... PIty about them pesky date stamps though.. http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmp
May 3, 200915 yr Author I know, I really, really want one of those DSLR's but I was stuck with a crappy 4yr old sony thingo. I have absolutely no idea how to get rid of those date stamps, I spent about 15 mins fiddling around on the camera to no avail. I've still got a lot of photo's left that I will upload later, along with the videos. Andy, I was working on this gate, and I had to move it to let planes onto the taxi way, but keep the publice off the taxi way, so the place I was standing was literally 5m away from the runway. EDIT- I dunno whats up guys, I have tried to upload a few vids onto youtube but It always said an unknown error occured. I don't know whether it is the school internet or youtube doesn't support the filetype. I'll keep trying tho. Edited May 6, 200915 yr by BaseJump http://i.imgur.com/DtNdckc.png [WC]Xavo|xXx:
