The problem with that is alot of players play in competetive ladders where the 1.5 patch will be required to log onto servers to either play matches or just train and pub.

This may cause some major headaches.

Worse comes to worse copy your Battlefield 2 folder and patch the second one, not the PR one.

Not really... you can just duplicate your BF2 folder and run PR off the non-patched, dupe folder afaik.

I don't know how people can expect the dev team to know what 1.5 is going to do to PR, when nobody knows exactly what it does. IF it ever arrives, just don't update to it. It'll be months anyway until a final comes out, there's still this whole beta process to go through.

Just a question ancient no need to go :wacko: just thought the Devs would have half an idea due to changleogs being released from DICE.

Closed beta has finished now , the open Beta starts at the end of April FYI.

If and when it is released here is the procedure to have the 1.5 installed and still run 1.41:

 

Copy your Battlefield 2 install to another location

Install the update

This will update your version of Battlefield 2 where it originally installed.

 

To go back to 1.41

 

Rename your new (1.50) install folder to something else i.e. Battlefield 2 1.50

Rename the copied install (1.41) to what it originally was i.e. Battlefield 2

Click START>RUN

Type: regedit

Go to (in Vista its different): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2

There you will see a key called Version. It should say 1.50

Change this to 1.40 and close regedit

Run Battlefield 2 as normal <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

xmas release was never gunna happen due to DICE being closed for 6-8 weeks over the Xmas period.

Kudos to a developer that is still trying to please a fickle community with a new update and map 4-5 years after the game was released

Aw cmon, vbf2 isn't THAT bad, i play in 10v10 and 6v6, its not as bad as everyone makes it out to be, its just some people should have never been playing the game in the first place.

1.5 was talked about by dice themselves half way through last year... they are taking their sweet time..

Yeh your actually right. I had a 4v4 today with some mates on a variety of 16 player maps and it was actually hell fun (my PR skills actually carried over really well - BF2 is so much easier....)

I simply despise playing BF2 over a packed 64 player server where every **** tard and their dog are nade spamming and bunny hopping.

 

Private game / tournament play Im sure is still fine.

 

PR is simply much more enjoyable over a public server.

No, actually, I don't. It seems to me that the average vbf2 player would rather have a shiny new map to get bored of after 1 week of playing.

They should at least unlock some of the hardcoded stuff. Not like their gonna lose any money out of it.
