Whos got RC stuff? Talking to rooter just a few mins ago bout it, he wanted me to make a thread and post up pics If I had any. They are taken on my phone, so dont expect no hi res stuff.

 

This is my current project... To try controlling this beast with rc gear without killing anyone, righting off parked (or moving) cars and not crashing into anyone's living room.

And this is what got me obsessed and started on rc stuff.. Was a early xmas for me last year when this stuff arrived lol. was $1200 worth. Yes theres 2 cars/ charges etc, double ordered everything, my cousin wanted in on some of the action to

 

1/10 4wd drifter... My first ever rc car.. wanted to have one for long time lol.. finally did, so my shell wasnt as PERFECT as I wanted it.. but I thought it was pretty minty for a first job. Its pretty low in pics, has to ride higher then that, as it scraps to much... doesnt look quite as pretty here, since its got a few battle scars now on the shell, as the concrete and brick walls have been bullying him LOL.. unbelieveably strong. never broken a part on it. Just a few bumps n scartches on the shell (paint touch up and at a distance will probably look new again) and few on the chassis from jumping it over some little humps on the concrete drive way

Its a tuff little thing.

Got a smashed up plane from about 20 years ago - currently gathering dust in roof of shed. Fixed up wings, but not fuselage yet - one day! Think the kids might inherit it when they are old enough to have a go. Will no doubt live breifly before being slammed into ground again. Actually the RC died and it went into shallow banked curve till it hit the deck! Wingspan is around 1.5 metres approx.

Yeah.. I thought about a plane but i dont like the idea of not flying 3rd or 1st person lol.

 

I might put up with a heli tho since i can fly closer to watch it.. But im currently looking to build a scrap boat or something that goes on water as its getting into summer, and id be able to buz around the pool while im chillin out in there lol.. Might need to water proof my control so i can swim with it hehe.

 

Just waiting for a psu to die or something so i can use the fan and motor lol. The fans arent a bad little motor, I took one out of an old pc and ran it under water.. works fine not huge rpm since its 12v (rc gear 6v) but it wasnt half bad, can use it for motor cooler to.

Have a small leky RC awd car from when i was a kid, finally got it going an was showing it to the son while chasing the dog in the backyard. Gem didn't know what to do, she was all flustered as i'd given her a bone to chew on before so she couldn't decide whether to chase the car or eat the bone . . . needless to say the bone won out but there was a lot of anxious looking on her part when the car got to close to her n the bone followed by a bit of barking.

 

Joy was short lived as the car ran over some of the stuffing from her bed so thats been rapped tightly round the front wheel's axle (inside the mag an near the wheel nut on the inside of the rim, cant fully seperate to get at it tho).

 

Looking at getting an RC chopper myself, have a few CMOS CCDs as well and axs to some wireless video transmitters, would love to get that all sorted so i could then fly '1st person' with the chopper (o:

i have 3 RC planes, all only electric but ive clocked one at over 110km/h in level flight .

 

crashed each one around 10 times. on my largest one i smashed up real good after loosing sight of it (who the hell makes a RC plane that can go over 100km/h and paints it in proper camo (grays/light blues and wat not....)).... broke both wings off (well was sort of a delta wing configeration) engine compartment and the nose... got some pins, glue and it was up and flying in 3 days

 

sorta over them now but was good at the time as i lived across from a old bush runway.

remeber watching a show on Discovery a few years back, some bloke in europe built his own rc airbus. fuel was a 9kg gas cylinder.

 

couldn't find it but found these:

AH HA found it (o: Apparently he has to break the fuselage into 3 bits an take the wings off so it'll fit in the back of his van (looked like a tirago)

Anyone know if you can buy a blackhawk rc chopper or a body to go over one of the usual ones you can get? When i was keen to get one i wanted to get a blackhawk and see if i could paint it similar to the Army ones.

I had a nitro rc car quiet a few years ago, but the birth of our daughter left no time for that sort of fun, so it was sold years ago.

Would love to get myself a Chopper but, cant convince the wife enough ... yet ...

Ive looked at getting a pico-z the little mini choppers, you can pick em up for $30 online.

yeah could be faulty tho, have you tried updating the firmware for it?

All I can say is be sure to get an actual genuine item rather than the cheaper knockoffs.

Ive still got 'le cheapy' that was almost impossible to keep in the air - it refused to hover, rolled on its own, breaks too easy, etc, etc. Even with fine tuning and redistributing weight its still pathetic in comparison. The control is a rip off of the picoo as well, yet its junk in comparison.

 

The real picoo z hovers properly and is very controllable. You can fly em down hallways, hover over the cat (this is good fun), etc.

 

I recommend eheli - look under the 'just for fun' bit for these - I know the guy who runs this store - Im not close friends with him but I do know him and he is an honest, legit guy.
