ok how the hell do you do one? i got one of those damn MSN viruses (where after you go on msn it sends the same virus link to all ya contacts -.-) ive tried uninstalling it all redownloading and installing it, deleteing all the filese (but there are like 4 files it wont let me delete!!!) and nothing works, so im thinking of doing a system restore to a week or so back. so my questions are, how do u do it? what will i loose? (like everything i did in that time such as downloads and all that?) and wat are the possible f*** ups i could do with it .....

Start menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Pretty easy just pick a date that is in bold, that's when your computer made a system restore point, and there ya go. You'll loose everything you downloaded from today till whenever you choose to restore it to. Hope that helps =].

Sounds like it would be better just unregistering the dll files it used then deleting?? Unless you know when you actually got it, System Restore can be a pain. Some of those Viriii can lay dormant for a few months

well i know when cus i clicked on the damn link!... how do i delete those files? id rather do that as ive downloaded some major things.

Yep most serious viruses can get into the system restore folder, and then when you finally do It it infects the files in which you restore back into. Not the best idea but if you cant get rid of the virus with any other means give it a try

So you know what files need to be deleted?

If so Look up unregister DLL files in google. it is like

CMD> regsrv32 /u file.dll

 

Disable System Restore

Go Into Safemode

Then do the command line stuff

Dude why dont you D/L something like MalWareBytes Anit-Malware, try that before you system restore. Worth a go, beofre you risk infecting your restore files

And the likes. Really gotta wonder what Rhodsey was doing looking at interspecies erotica with dwarfs in it...???

with a system restore you wont loose anything you have downloaded , only stuff you have installed. so that 700mb avi of interspiecies dwarf pron will be safe but the last install of bf2hax2000 wont.

while were on the topic of virus guess what just gave me one , and no it wasnt that bird from down the road , it was punkbuster setup . downloaded from the original pb site and the bastard just gave me a virus while updating bf2 .

Ah I'm sure that some how comes back to EA having a monopolistic attitude towards all an sundry, not to mention Microsoft and Blizzard still selling the DiabloII Battlechest for $99!!! What the heck is up with that?!?!?
