Currently I use Westnet as my ISP. Mainly due to the fact that I work for it's parent company and get a decent discount. However, I'll be moving to Perth for study soon and will loose this benefit. Westnet have never done me wrong but I was thinking; does anyone have an ISP they really like and can recommend or should I just stick with Westnet and hope that they never check up if I still work at the same spot?

Node have some pretty good plans. The have always had a rock solid connection ever since I have been with them.

 

Though If your company doesn't look whats the harm? Next to that ask some of the guys who live in Westy

How much do you have to spend?

I'll start. Sad to say I'm on bigpond broadband. I in live in the east of perth(way east) on unlimited plan (slows after 12 gigs) for $29.97 pm

 

The missus does work for a telco but she says we may be able to get the same deal for you if you want..

 

Not all of perth can get broadband. Depends where you are living and if the nearest exchange can carry it (sad but true).

bishos - I have been with Westnet from the very start - it was started by my father-in-law and my cousin-in-law at the Retravision in Geraldton back in 1994 so they are definately a WA company and have very wide coverage here.

 

Only downside to Westnet is that their brilliant customer service has waned and their price/performance ratio has dropped. I am just in the process of switching to the other big WA based company iinet who offers ADSL2 on their own DSLAMS.

 

Forget node or the other SA based ISP's - not worth it over here.

Im with Optus BB on DSL2+ im a not to far from bahyle(swan bottle shop) and i get about 5-6 megs a sec with 21gbs a month with free mobile and phone for around 70 bucks a month. if u bundle with home phone and mobile optus aint to bad

iinet are fantastic, though im on optus cable at the moment

 

Will switch as soon as a DSLAM port is available on my exchange.

Im in perth and I did the look around the results were favourable towards an ISP called amcom

another 10gb waix per month

 

$10 extra per month for 10gb download and 10gb waix

 

And I have worked out that you can go to 2gb over per month (regardless of what plan you are on) until they shape you to 56k (realllly shit).

 

so you should have 12gb permonth for 50$ on a 8Mb/1MB .... nice

 

the bad side is the customer service and support. they are terrible. I wont stress that but they are. Regardeless, there prices and internet are worth it.

On second though, checking out iinets new plans, they are shit.

 

Their old plans were really really awesome.
