Posted September 12, 200816 yr Also, in my old job I would talk to everyone and give orders the same way I would in game....and it worked....suckers Yeah, this quote deserved its own thread. I have to say, that since I started playing PR end of last year and getting out there to squad lead especially, I've found my skills in managing people at work to have improved immensely. I'd have to say that this would have to be one of the strongest arguments against anyone who said that online gaming was pointless and a waste of time. Anyone else experienced this? http://www.vrcombat.com/alive_footer_white_1.gif http://alivemod.com/img/alive_footer_logo1.pnghttp://alivemod.com/img/alive_footer_logo2.pnghttp://alivemod.com/img/alive_footer_logo3.png
September 12, 200816 yr Funny this... yesterday after my economics exam, i went out to the oval and helped Mrs Randell with her troublesome yr7 sports class... my stern order giving i do as an SL in-game, seemed to have helped on the oval http://www.bigd.com.au/_bigdfiles/sigs/mh-sig-2016-11.png
September 12, 200816 yr so does this mean you can try to claim some play time at work as business related training and upskilling ?? http://www.madhouseau.com/misc/sigs/darthsig.jpg

September 12, 200816 yr Yer, I need a defensive perimeter set up around these ads here. We need to hold this position until the client leaves the building. Then we'll move out to the pub, regroup and set up a rally. Aresnik [WC] Leiutenant Braaaaaaaarp!
September 12, 200816 yr I am opposite. Iv been a rl leader for about 5 years and bought my rl skills to PR leading http://img254.imageshack.us/img254/7767/hhmw5.png

September 12, 200816 yr I went one better and added PR SLing to my resume for leadership qualities. Get some funny looks from interviewers and then I explain the fact that we can communicate verbally over the internet and they are blown away.....a game can do that!!!! Suckers they gave me the job and now I sit at home all day watching the stock market and playing PR and trolling the forums......if they try to fire me I will hunt them down with my plastic hand ties Noddy´s Awesomeness = HAPPY GEK http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm127/vandal1313/Disobidience-small.jpg

September 12, 200816 yr The most leadership i do is in PR... not to much of a leader in real life.... and PR. I used to run a clan and stuff a while back but being a leader is to much work and responsibility.. But i haven't got much leading experience as of yet... maybe that will change as there is currently a big shortage of leaders due to a newbie flux. When in trouble or in doubt, RUN IN CIRCLES SCREAM AND SHOUT!!! [url]http://nanourl.net/46e85[/url]
September 12, 200816 yr Not being afraid to feel confident with your decisions, and making your underlings feel that confidence is something very very positive to take away from PR. There are 2 types of people in this world, Leaders, and Sheep. I like to think of myself as a Leader, but maybe I'm a sheep.... Maybe I should SL more. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
September 12, 200816 yr I notice in uni, in the business classes where the answers are handed to you on a silver platter, cut up into bite sized portions and you're given a fork so your hands don't get messy... no one wants to talk [abt the topics obviously]! The tutors try to stimulate conversation... a whole class of blank looks. *sigh* Dunno if it was PR or my ex, but I was definitely one of them before, and now I'm definitely not Helps a lot with the tutorial participation grades too I do think PR has a lot to do with it though. http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. It tells you not to play the second worst PR map [burning Sands] (first is Wanda Shan). QFT: if you dont get pissed off when you lose you dont care enough
September 12, 200816 yr I am opposite. Iv been a rl leader for about 5 years and bought my rl skills to PR leading Don't know what headhunter does in rl but I'd say I'm in the same situation as him. I lead a unit of 60 cadets on a weekly basis (I rarely SL because I get my dose of it outside). Unlike you guys on PR however, they're slightly less...attentive owing much to the fact their age is a third of yours Edited September 12, 200816 yr by Stoked24 http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/merc.bmp On the topic of shiny auscam... the sound they made while bush walking made it seem like I was doing mean things to little furry animals inside my pants

In my thermodynamics unit our lecturer puts forth questions to the group and after getting no response and blank faces he says something along the lines of, "I can see you're all thinking about the answer so I'll give you a few more minutes to contemplate". He seems a little cut after those few minutes have expired with no-one putting their hand up. What's worse is if someone actually responds and gets the answer wrong then everyone will have a little chuckle at their expense. This pretty much ensures that the person who answered will never volunteer themselves again. September 12, 200816 yr Its great doing design, cause there's really no wrong answer.. you just play dumb if you do get it wrong (despite so eloquently delivering your wrong answer) keke.. http://i.imgur.com/wofKY.jpg Portfolio Site http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpghttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/opagamaserv.jpg
September 12, 200816 yr im sorta different, im a leader in RL, captain of my basketball team, assistant coach of my towns U18 team, and a ref, yet in-game i find it hard to relay my orders over the computer, hard to say but its just not as affective for me as i usually need to sorta be there in the room lol, if that makes sense... http://i.imgur.com/TLiDl.png
September 12, 200816 yr There are 2 types of people in this world, Leaders, and Sheep. . I'm a leader sheep (a bit of both) http://i.imgur.com/zoL1k.png
September 12, 200816 yr I'd call myself a sheep, but I'm the type of sheep that doesn't need a shepherd. I know what I'm supposed to do, I do what I'm told, or I do it without being asked. I'm talking RL and in game. Most jobs I have ever had, the supervisor gets a paltry amount more per week plus gets lumped with extra responsibility. Personally, I think it's smarter to not have it, earn nearly as much as goof around when needed. Plus you haven't got a care in the world, at home or at work. Same as in game. You don't need to make the decisions, unless you feel like it. That said, I will still SL cause it appears no one else wants to do it at times. http://imgur.com/e5y6e.gif You've already ruined these forums for me, I have no desire to read your rhetoric or the pathetic arguments you get yourself in to, or the personal vendetta you have against me, so please, do not talk to me. Ever. About anything.
September 12, 200816 yr If anyone is an engineer, grab the last copy of the Engineers Australia Magazine - there's a 5? page article on skills gained through gaming. Esp. references MMO organisation (eg EVE Online Alliance leasers of thousands of people, WoW Raid organisation). Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
