well tonight im free of the mrs! yay! so i havent played PR since monday

and havent played ArmA since op. Betty!

 

 

i love PR and the new 0.8 but lately some rounds with the influx on new ppl

to PR and their tendancy for noobish play is a bit annoying!

 

so here is my proposition.....

 

to all the PR players..... tonight for at least a few hrs kicking off around 8.00pm AEST, who will be wanting some dedicated PR goodness?

to do this we will need to follow 5 simple informal rules....

 

1. have an even amount of regulars on each side to balance out the noobishness of newer PR players. this will mean not being with all your mates but only some.

 

2. No one will swap at the start of a round jus to stay American or British! everyone is guilty of it and it does tend to ruin a game when the regulars jus play as US or brits

 

3. can we if possible when making squads have a ratio of 3:3 or 4:2 of regulars and Newbies in a squad. will make for more enjoyment and the new players will see the goodness of PR.

 

4. if possible have your mic working and try to be in TS! (this is not a must but it is handy and makes for even more PR goodness)

 

5. And can we try to "adopt a noob"... for these few hrs! so our community grows, and tardish/noobism is stopped at the door.

 

Now i know this is a lot to ask... but we all know community run nights are some of the best for everyone.

these 5 points are not a must but more of a request by me, but and i mean BUT it will work out better for everyone,

if these simple rules are observed and followed at least by us regulars for atleast a few hours on 1 night.

 

 

 

 

now if everyone rejects those 5 points then fair enough cause i'm leaning towards an organised ArmA night with the bigD ArmA crew anyway!!!

cause i know when playing arma there is always GOODNESS when you are along side fellow bigDers or the friendly AEF boys.

 

so i am poling to see how much interest there is in either an informal PR community night full of GOODNESS

or an ArmA night of pure GOODNESS!

 

so i ask....

PR or ArmA (for those that have it)

 

 

 

 

NOTE: I DO NOT WANT COMPLAINTS ABOUT HOW CRAP 1 GAME IS, THEREFORE YOU"LL BE PLAYING THE OTHER!!

if i did that wat rotation would we set it too....?

 

 

and that would exclude new players which i dont want to do..... was thinking if we had an informal night and adopt newbies then it might work best for the community as a whole!

 

i can start another thread to poll a suggested map rotation for a informal server 2 night! will one of the admins be able to set that up at such short notice!?!?!

not a bad idea but I think part of his logic is to try and formalise (or at least a commitment from us regulars) training of newer peeps.

Tonight is one of the first Friday night's in a long time where I'll be getting pissed at my local!

Why dont we adopt teh noobs, then FORCE them to join the forums and the community. That way, half the attitude training will be done for us, leaving only the gameplay mechanics.

Booking of the servers has been temporarliy suspended to allow people to play and get to know the new rules / gameplay mechanics.

 

Alot of the new players are not members of the forums (they should be) so as stated we would exclude alot of players.

 

I should be around tonight and i want to play a game or 3 so setting up server 2's rotation can be organised, i hope......... but the server is already set up for infantry maps.

 

We have had reasonable success with informal community nights where there is no password, people just have to be willing to put a little effort in and be patient.

 

New players soon get the hint that if they join a squad and do what is required then they have a much better evening.

 

And dont be affraid to spam the website address at the start of the round.

sounds like a plan might actually get a few organised squads instead of mandatory loan wolf squad

 

(who was it on one of the new maps (insurgency) last week that instead of stopping the hummer and engaging the technical just kept that accelerator right on and killed everyone in the hummer+technical. that was fun-king hilarious)

Get some regulars squad leading, "leading" being the operative word.

 

SL +3-4 other regs and 2 newbies per squad.

 

Then just constant coms and keeping the squad tight.

OKAY so here is the plan!

 

 

either we jus get together on server 1 and follow the 5 guidlines i have set!

or

we 'book' server 2 and change the rotation to larger maps and with the same guidelines.

(if we wanna do this then darth ill need to have a chat to you.)

neither option will be locked or passworded.

 

 

if we are all happy to follow these guidelines then i'm quite happy to set it up for everyone.

i will need 1 off sider who will be on the opposite side to me jus to make sure the guidelines are loosly followed prefrably an admin.

 

 

if you think we can add or change the guidelines then please post suggestions.

so we can set up server 2 with the larger maps on our own rotation?

or would you rather set up server 1 and jus play the normal rotation....

the title and map rotation is easybut the server would stay as 32 people max, which makes 64p maps seems really big but also lead to more time to show people what to do and try assests in a semi controlled way.

well in that case do we want to jus have it on server 1 with normal rotation and jus change the name or would u rather have it on server 2.

 

am i correct that server 2 can have upto 48....

Server 2 can go to 48 but i think it starts to create chug on the server - but that might have been coz we still had battlerecorder on.

 

Server 2 can be setup but if you are wanting images posted up in the forums etc etc then that takes time and i dont have alot.

 

Best to run it in either server 1 (with or without name change) by just getting people in there and organising things ( a few admins to sort people out etc) or we set something up on server 2 and control it from there.

 

A post can go up in the news area but im not sure alot of people would see it before joining the servers due to the very short amount of time left.

 

But if you want to make up an image and a post and PM it too me i can get it into place (as long as its in the next 30 minutes)

Iv played lots of ArmA and its nothing compared to PR.

ITs fun for about a week.

i reckon server one is the way to go. gotta show them the vehicles and junk other wise there is no reason for them to stay.
