Posted September 7, 200816 yr Is it just me or does qin ling use a crap load more RAM than it really should. PR .8, Vista 64, 2GB ram. Vista uses 512mb atm doing nothing when I got into Qin Ling twice (With SuperFetch on and off) my RAM was completely used up, IE it was using 1.5GB's of RAM for 1 BF2 map????? I have noticed some other maps do this as well sometimes. http://www.clan-tea.com/sigs/flames/Poncho-Temp.png Orders starting with SOMEBODY usually wind up being completed by NOBODY.
September 7, 200816 yr yeah its basically quinling and ramiel, and some other maps like muttrah give me an initial PC chug for the first 10 minutes. i have 2gb of ram and xp so i reckon those two maps just need to be optimized (ramiel and quinling)
September 7, 200816 yr 2gig RAM is the recommendation for XP users, but being that Vista uses a bit of memory, Vista users are recommended to have more than 2gig of memory to play PR. Former Head Admin Check out the current admin list HERE
September 7, 200816 yr ...(With SuperFetch on and off)... There's no such thing a superfetch command, it does nothing and is just a myth. There's no reference to it anywhere in the kernel in XP EDIT: My bad, its a vista only feature. I dont use the POS so I wouldn't know Edited September 7, 200816 yr by omgwtfbbqsrc http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ee/US_Army_E-2.svg/50px-US_Army_E-2.svg.png http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/4927/awardslf0.png
September 7, 200816 yr Author Lol slav, do a little more research. It is no myth I got more than 256MB less ram usage after turning it off, some programs load a little slower now because they are not sitting in memory which is what superfetch does. From my reading it is a VERY good feature for Vista, far superior to the Prefetch in XP. Windows Process: SuperFetch It is definitely not a myth. http://www.clan-tea.com/sigs/flames/Poncho-Temp.png Orders starting with SOMEBODY usually wind up being completed by NOBODY.

Not a myth, but I beg to differ regarding whether it's a good thing for gamers. http://tiredblogger.wordpress.com/2007/03/27/superfetch-not-so-super-for-gaming/
September 10, 200816 yr I know my pc is old and pretty crappy, but recently ive tried to give qingling another go since 0.8 has come out, both times that i've played it my frame rate has dropped to an unbearable and horribly unplayable level while in a tank (whether driving or gunning) ie 3-7 fps now that ive turned all my settings down to a horribly low level just to continue playing pr, the game looks disgusting but most of the time i can get through a map with only the odd chug here and there (even fools road is ok) but qingling is just wrong from where i sit. maybe related to memory, not sure. September 10, 200816 yr maybe related to memory, not sure. I know my pc is old and pretty crappy I think I've identified your problem. $50 callout fee plz kthxbai :hi: http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. It tells you not to play the second worst PR map [burning Sands] (first is Wanda Shan). QFT: if you dont get pissed off when you lose you dont care enough

September 11, 200816 yr Hell will freeze over before I go down in resolution! I remember when I first started playing BF2 and I had a Nvidia 5600, I was lucky if I got 3 kills in 3 rounds running at 800x600 The amount of stuff you see in a higher resolution is just crazy compared to 800x600 May as well be wearing a blindfold The day I upgraded from that card was the day I swore I would NEVER go back below 1280x1024. did you try run it in 800x600 ? NEVER!!!! Edited September 11, 200816 yr by cm. There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production.
