Posted September 3, 200816 yr After frequent CTD's after trying everything I could to fix the problem I have: 1. Uninstalled: PR, BF2, Nvidia Drivers + Realtek Drivers 2. Driver Cleaner Professional to clear reminants 3. Cleaned Temp files + defragged 4. Re-installed BF2, PR 5. Deleted PB folder 6. Updated/Installed PB I have a computer basically dedicated to PR, i use my laptop for everything else. Im basically looking for advice on pagefile size. GFX Card: Asus 8600GT RAM: 2GB 667MHz CPU: Intel Q6600 2.4GHz MOBO: Asus P5K-V HDD #1: SATA 40GB (Windows XP 32bit OS, Drivers, Ventrilo etc) HDD #2: SATA 80GB (Project Reality, Steam) HDD1 has 08/40GB Free HDD2 has 50/80 GB Free What size paging file should I use on each drive to minimize CTD's and/or increase performance? Keep in mind that this computer is used primarily for Project Reality and Ventrilo/TS. http://i.imgur.com/rfTYp.png

September 3, 200816 yr I was always under the impression your page file should be double the amount of ram you have... I could be wrong though...
September 3, 200816 yr I have 4096 gig of ram, page file is set at 4096. Not that i use more than 3 and a bit of it. Nodachi's "How to ".. Right click My Computer > properties > advanced system settings > advanced tab > performance settings > advanced tab > virtual memory > custom size > increase this to the amount of ram you have and set the maximum and minimum the same. Hope this helps -Nodachi Edited September 3, 200816 yr by Gunner_downer http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee118/bahlye/bahlye007/mouse_zps73307fb2.gif
September 3, 200816 yr The RAM literally uses the pagefile as "standby" RAM when it has too much information and needs somewhere to store it while it works on the current job, whatever that may be. To that end, its probably wise to have a pagefile of roughly equal size to your RAM, in the unlikely event that you would need to swap a whole craptonne of work out of the RAM at once. People run with less, some run with more. Just make sure you DO have one, unless you have so much physical RAM that it would be impossible to overload it, eg if you have 25gig of RAM Which you dont. September 4, 200816 yr Read the XP tweak guide at http://www.tweakguides.com. That is the definitive guide on the Internets for fixing up your XP/Vista install. Others have it right. First you set it at No Paging File. The you reboot. Then you set it at 2560 (from memory, read the guide or use the contents to head straight to the page file tweaking section), maximum and minimum. Page file will not help CTD's. For example, this computer I'm typing from is an EeePC. This uses NO pagefile to reduce writes to the SSD hard drive. http://imgur.com/e5y6e.gif You've already ruined these forums for me, I have no desire to read your rhetoric or the pathetic arguments you get yourself in to, or the personal vendetta you have against me, so please, do not talk to me. Ever. About anything.
