Posted July 14, 200816 yr I just finished setting up my new pc. The mic I had on the old one is a Logitech-980186-0403-USB-Desktop-Microphone. It works fine on that pc., Both pcs are running XP home. On the new one, in game voip is barely hearable, and it does nothing on T/S except make the green light (inT/S)light up. Its supposed to be(afaik) a plug and play mic...no driver required. So its got to have something to do with the on board drivers. Everything sound wise works fine, except for the mic. All the usb ports are enabled. Device manager reckons everything is working, but it does not work. Nothing in sound and audio settings/control panel seems to do anything, and when I was installing pr ,I couldn't set up the microphone threshold setting or enable mic gain boost as it simply didn't seem to pick up that a mic was plugged in.. Buggered if I know.... Help..?... http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee118/bahlye/bahlye007/mouse_zps73307fb2.gif
July 14, 200816 yr If it's USB, then your soundcard drivers are bypassed and it uses it's own. In TS check the settings to see if you can select that microphone as opposed to the normal output (which is the soundcard output). Maybe try install some drivers for it if it came with them or a cd to get access to a control panel for it?? Not sure if that makes sense to you, but I can't check what the options are called cos I'm at work. If you're having issues tonight hit me up on MSN.
July 14, 200816 yr Get a non-USB mic . Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png

July 14, 200816 yr I too brought a USB mic headset awhile ago, the below screenshot shows you need to select the headset on the input(mic) and output(headphones) http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/8992/teamspeakusbmicbo4.th.jpg Edited July 14, 200816 yr by stewsta http://www.bigd.com.au/_bigdfiles/sigs/mh-sig-2016-11.png

July 14, 200816 yr Right click on the volume control thing in your notification area, go to audio properties. Make sure that the new USB microphone is the one set up for input (recording) as sometimes they like to do funny things. If this doesn't work, make sure that the recording volume is maxed in your audio properties. I'm not sure what could be causing it... http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee94/psyrus_uraya/awards-1.png QFT: Your computer is smart man. July 14, 200816 yr Author Davee ,Mahouse...that fixed the T/S issue...thx(rep for you ). Just have to sort out the voip in game and I'm set.. :) http://i230.photobucket.com/albums/ee118/bahlye/bahlye007/mouse_zps73307fb2.gif
July 14, 200816 yr Try run the config in BF2 for the mic, or see if you can install drivers for it and if there is a config program?? I see it has noise cancelling, maybe turn that off if you can find the option as that will kill a bit of sound. Edited October 18, 200816 yr by cm.
