This will come back to haunt me if I don't sort it out now.

 

Qinling is the template for the problems I have been having with the

new version of the mod. There is almost no good close quarters biffo.

Armour rules over everything.

 

Anyway - I got a Special Operations kit. I formed my own squad to so I could

follow my own move markers. I spent ten minutes driving around the back of

the map to get to the base. I took ten minutes watching some d**khead shoot

up his own base with the gatling gun on the chopper and then I went in.

 

I placed slams on all the vehicles I could. I then went into the main building

and found the command post that I disabled with C4.

 

I was trying to find a way out of there. I shot 3 (read it: THREE) people while I was

in or near the main building, I was wounded once. One person must have been killed by

my slam or slam damage on a vehicle destroying it. I took some badly aimed (full auto) potshots

at someone on/near a motorbike.

 

I was told on these forums that it is OK to defend one's self when conducting sabotage.

The three people I killed I killed because they would have killed me when they saw me.

I wasn't just going to stand there and go: "aw geez, yeah, you got me, here I am and not even with a day-pass".

I tried to exfil and then I was shot by an AA vehicle.

 

I was accused of "spawn raping". I was one man, alone.

 

I got pissed off, swore and ragequit.

 

I was 7 months away from this mod. It was nice to actually see some of the enemy in

close quarters and I am sorry KillKirk but it was reflex. The people I killed didn't look like

they had just popped into existence. I killed one around the back of a tank (before he

killed me). I killed one on the middle level of the main building. I killed another on the

top level of the main building. The command post was outside on that level.

 

I'm sure I will get the sh*t from people here for this.

 

Anyway, that is what happened.

Personally, I think your story is fine. Of course people are going to whinge being shot in their own base, thats natural. You can't exactly type over Global Chat - "I am about to sabotage your assets, so I am not spawn camping".

 

I had something similar happen, but didn't bother to type a post for it. I was a sniper on Quin Ling, support 2 guys capping the flag. I was causing "interference" popping off anything that moved, while my guys went up the stairs to the cap zone. I was identifying targets for them - generally doing my job. Naturally, people accused me of spawn camping - it happens.

There is no issue with this Sandy. People who are killed in their main just think they're in a safe haven, which is understandable, but obviously not always correct. This activity is frowned upon but on the whole it isn't such a big issue. Sabotage away!

Yeah, when its a lone wolf sniping or sabo'ing, I guess its frowned apon, but not quite into base rape territory. Had you been camping a bunker or something, it might have been an issue, but by youurself, I reckon thats fair game.

ive seen people repeatedly camp uncaps on that map..

 

blow up the bunker and camp it when people come to repair it..

 

that round last night where u were demoing in the uncap, we had a tank camping our farm when it wasnt cappable..

i troll all the time mate , marlin , sharks , tuna etc . ive seen hh do it every round he plays

 

needs to be changed , all areas of the battlefield should be deemed hostile , as in real life .

I know what your like in-game and would trust your judgment of right or wrong, your above post just reinforces my views.

 

I have no problem with single man incursions personally.

I think what you did is OK, but i don't do it personally.

 

What gets me ticked off is when there's a sniper outside with no hostile coming in, and just shoots at people trying to take off in jet/chopper. While it's uncappable at that point in time, that IMO, is main camping.

So long as you weren't in a vehicle, you're fine.

 

From memory the official ruling was something along the lines of:

 

You can do it so long as you're all on foot and there are less than 3 of you.

 

More than 3 and in a vehicle = ban.

3 or less and on foot = medal.

I'm up for more spec ops work if anyone needs an ammo or spotter guy. Only done it once in the last 3 months.

I agree, you were fine IMO Sandy. People will complain about being shot at main, but if you return the 'I'm in UR Bases blowing up UR stuff only" reply, they don't have any leg to stand on.

 

That said, camping an uncappable main with a vehicle or sniper kit etc is not cricket and should be stomped on.

 

Champsky, I think you'll find that open slather is not a good solution, unfortunately - it leads to some very unfair/un-fun rounds of PR. Imagine Kashan without this 'gentleman's' agreement - that would be an hour of really bad PR if your main got attacked straight away.

Yep i see nothing wrong either sandy. Like I've always maintained alot of people like to use the "spawncamper!" scream as a crutch. The only time I personally have a problem with people being in a main is when its more then 1 or 2 people and/or they have a vehicle and are being there for the sole purpose of raping.

what they need to do is make the spawns at main bases be in out of bounds area's for the enemies, however the main base itself is in an area the enemy can get into. that way when you spawn in your in a safe area, but you have to walk a short distance to get to the main base and its vehicles, which are in an area the enemy can get to. that way noone can complain about spawn camping if your in their main base because the enemy cant access the main base spawn, it can only sabotage the main base vehicles, which is fine.

I think the only problem Sandy is that there are quite a few new players on at the moment (which is a very good thing for PR ) and some of them arnt used to the different play styles PR offers. You go do some effective and fare sabotage and they see someone camping there main. You , the admins and the more experianced players know its ok. They (the new kids ) will learn the hard way not to wait at main for there favorite sniper (but im so 1337 teh sniper kit) kits and to always ALWAYS check for mines under vehicles if your playing.

Basically, everyone on the servers except for like 6.7523 people are giant sooks Sandy. This is why we can't have nice things.

It gets even more ugly when you destroy some new Vanilla noobs favourite asset that he has dedicated his Gamer tag to like "TransportPilot123" or "SniperLord" when they realise PR is ALOT different.

Sounds like a perfect example of sabotaging Sandy.

 

Don't worry about those that accuse you of base raping, etc. You should be congratulated, you slowed the enemy down, disrupted their operations, and destroyed key assets, therefore helping your team to victory.

Basically your playing hide and seek. Kill if you have to but only if they have seen you or will see you. As long as you dont sit in the base killing people as they spawn you'll be sweet.
