Re: 60 seconds critically wounded! + more

Excellent concept! :)

One thing was mentioned there is with the kits lasting a little longer... Be (slightly) interesting to see how this pans out.

Re: 60 seconds critically wounded! + more

That sounds very cool. Should encourage use of medics in squads.

nice concepts! I agree with most of the improvements as it is a push to move PR foward as it must however (and i realise that the concept may or may not be implemented) but having to wait for a medic to fully heal you so that you are out of your 'blacking state' before you can get up- although realistic- we have to remember it is still a 'game' and a game moves. I potentially see "camping" becoming the favourite. Kill enemy...enemy down..keep your sights on enemy...wait for medic to come...pow pow... medic down + your origional guy..lame.

Re: 60 seconds critically wounded! + more

You should almost always have a medic in your squad anyway.

Sounds good in theory though. It does get tough doing multiple revives, remembering who has what kit, working out importance, etc, and it usually ends up being closest to me gets the revive over others (SL excepted of course).

Edit--> Amagale good point but medics should be neutralising the threat/s anyway, at the minimum using smoke cover. You can still crawl backwards while being healed too ;)

Re: 60 seconds critically wounded! + more

yeah amagale what your saying only applies to how it is atm. with the 30 sec critically wounded time there isnt much time to revive the guy so you end up charging in under fire reviving the guy and telling him to run. the idea of 60 sec critically wounded time is that you can eliminate the threat, and/or throw down smoke and wait for it to cover the area, THEN revive the guy.

but the reality is - people will actually do this on a battlefield

yes it's a game... but reality is what we're all after...

for instance sabotage is a real pr!ck but checking vehicles before using them, for instance, is reality also...

Re: 60 seconds critically wounded! + more

Sounds awesome. So when is 0.8 coming out?

Re: 60 seconds critically wounded! + more

lulz ^

60 seconds is for proof of concept, it will be tested and if it proves its worth, then the wounded time may be extended to 2 or 3 minutes.

That's been done since nilla was first released. No biggie.

To add to what Sandy said, a dead man is one man down a wounded man is three or more out of combat.

lol yer dude i know!...i meant that if it was implemented well then ppl would be more alert to the fact that times have been extended and stuff..and hence hang around after capping a dude for a lil bit longer than what they already may..thats all..lol..anyways...its a very interesting concept none the less..adds another element to the game

Re: 60 seconds critically wounded! + more

i think they could push the full respawn time to 60 seconds... but maybe cause i just think that 30seconds goes so fast now cause PR is like the only online game i play...

the main change i see is getting your freshly revived buddy up and moving to be able to cover you, for a short amount of time (between blackout to normal vision) the medic may actually have to be very aware of his surroundings and be quick to get his gun out to take down enemies. Most of the time when i revive someone the good ones actually do cover you while they are getting healed the bad ones just run off into combat and get completely killed hopefully this will change it a bit. i think medics might be used a lot more professionally as in smoke run with bandage in hand drop it on corpse rev heal while directing them out of harms way. good update i think. but the new players that wont read about this or read the manual i can see them complaining "why do i have to wait 60seconds each time".

Edit: i guess this means the kits will survive longer as well giving anyone including enemies the chance to retrieve a valuable kit from greater distances

Re: 60 seconds critically wounded! + more

Medic kit really needs the scoped rifle. That's my gut feeling, I know it's been argued to death and is probably unrealitic, but for me, I'd be playing medic a lot more often if I had a more capable kit, allowing flexibility in situations.

Re: 60 seconds critically wounded! + more

Meh, old news :p

Hopefully this and some other interesting changes concerning squad stuff will make people stick together more, and not be rambo lonewolf out in the middle of nowhere with the l33t sp3c 0pz kit...

Re: 60 seconds critically wounded! + more

I agree. I love the medic class (I have a thing for support roles for some reason) but you end up being a hangback hero cause you cant see anything more than a foot in front of you when scoped. Although on the filpside, with a scope, you might become an unstoppable self-healing killing machine.

i do that anyway , most of the time if you drop someone there will be someone else in their squad that will come sniffing in the same area

Now SLs will be yelling at incompetant SMs with the HAT etc to "Press the GAWDDAMN Give-up button!... NOW!" :cowboy:

I think all this sounds like a great improvement for the game. Having Revived soldiers spawn with the black & white screen-of-death I don't think the best but certainly will add a bit more excitement.

Zenning hardcore.

I think it's an excellent change, that will only help gameplay. Being a medic, I know exactly what they're talking about... these days you always have to make the split second choice: find the guy who killed him, or go for the revive, because you sure as anything cannot do both :)

Re: Medic Scopes - Bad idea, these medics are lightly armoured and meant to be a support unit, like the ammo rifleman (the unscoped one, with a larger ammo bag [yep, that's right boys/girls!]) or grenadier. Medics are for healing people and sometimes CQC if moving in with the squad. Adding a scope with this new timer would bring it back to vanilla.... entire medic squads that get wasted, but the last one kills you with his scope, revives all of them and they then move on to pwn again.

Defrib -> Medic bag is literally a 1/2 second change, and so before they're even aware that you've revived them, you can be healing them :) Alternatively, you [the medic] can run to the downed soldier with your field dressing out, drop a patch on his body, revive him and that patch will give him enough life to use his own field dressing, giving the medic time to attend to any other downed squad members.
