Im getting kicked all day today with a shaders error. Ive looked it up everywhere and noone seems to have a clear simple way to fix it.

 

I know others are having the same problem. The PR thing says to run just PR.exe but what does that mean exactly?

there is an exe file now called PR.exe in your bf2/mods/pr folder use that to run the game now.

Simplest and quickest way is to rerun the 0.75 patch, and tick that box that says make a new shortcut icon. Delete your old one. Run off the new one.

I have a Text document named that.

Or just change your BF2 shortcut to end in /pr.exe instead of /bf2.exe

You will also need to change the location though, as it's not in the same folder, and will not be found.

Ok nothing works.

 

Ive re-installed the patches, deleted shortcuts, created new ones, but nothing.

 

Now when i click on the PR icon in the Pr Mod folder, it says No Bf2.exe file exists.

 

The only thing named PR.exe is the textdocument, and when i open that, its blank.

 

Ive found out this is due to the Dev's wanting to crack down on cheats. So im suffering for this reason alone....and its pissing me off that they try this stupid little shortcut system, when the fact is, anyone smart enough to modify files etc....can get around such a stupid trick. Ask Psyrus;)

Did you tick 'create a new desktop icon' when you installed PR?

 

Also, reinstall the vanilla 1.41 patch/s.

My only other advice would be to uninstall the whole lot, PR and vanilla and reinstall from scratch.

Did you turn off your hacks?

 

Seriously though. Could video drivers have anything to do with this?

I gather the problem is fixed since hes been playing this afternoon for a while...

Run pr... the dogtags. That is pr.exe. your "pr.exe" that you think is a text document is actually named pr.exe.txt. If you enable view file extensions, you'd see what I mean. Run those dogtags mate and you should have no dramas. You can also delete your text document pr.exe, since that should not be there.

 

Your desktop shortcut should look like:

 

Target:

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\mods\pr\pr.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 0 +modPath mods/pr

Start in:

"C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2"

 

bf2.exe should exist here:

C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2\bf2.exe

You should check to see if it is there. If it is and you still have the problem, have you applied a no-cd crack? That might stop it from working, use a mini-image instead, or the actual discs. If it does exist, then you should be having no problems.

 

If somehow you still are, completely uninstall everything BF2 related, delete the "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 2", and "\My Documents\Battlefield 2" folders. Then install BF2, patch to 1.41, then install either 0.7 full (core/levels) and the 0.756 patch, OR, 0.756 full (core/levels) (depending what you downloaded). Once installed, don't change anything around, just go straight in and play.

 

If you STILL are having issues (by now you will not be, but "if"), format and start completely from scratch.

Ok it was crashing all day today/tonight until the round i just had. After crashing again tonight....i was just not having it...it was either gunna work...or i was off to find a new game (its like having a supermodel for a gf...but not being allowed to touch...its just frustrating) anyhow....i did stuff....and bitsa stuff...and the last thing i did was run the bf patch thingy in a different folder (dont ask) and it worked all game? amazing...i dunno how i fixed it but its fixed:)

I think something must have gone awry cause i havnt seen my screen like this before....i think i was.....a HACK CHEAT (OMG)...un-intentionally.....cause i am to cheap to pay for em, and i wouldnt know how the hell to make one...im still not sure how it all ended up like that:(

Have you re adjusted all your video settings back to the way you had them before?

Guys, I've have the same problem, however I have vista going and the only way that it lets me play is if I run the game as an admin.

Yes, in Vista you have to run pr.exe as an admin, due to the way it works.

I hate punkbuster.... isnt there a better way to stop cheaters???

That would be the suppression effect they added in on the latest patch. Takes a bit of getting used to.
