Pick up grappling hooks

One thing's been pestering me for a while - what's the deal with picking up grappling hooks? I've never got it to work...

- Do you need to be the classes that can use them for it to work?

- If I've re-bound the 'g' key to something else, does this mean I can't pick them up?

iv assumed its only the person that droped it can touch it. hardcoded i assume. stupid seein as any1 can pik up a rope.
Earn respect don't demand it.

You need to be a class which has a grappling hook (mountaineer engi, civlian, militia scout etc.). You need to have no grappling hook in your kit (already chucked it out). Then you will be able to press your pickup kit key (default G) to pick it up, and you can then rechuck it.

(Did that make sense?)

The ability to pick it up or "cut" it with your knife would be excellent.

Yeah, Ancients got it. You have to be a class that carries them eg. engies, and you can only hold one at a time, ie you can't pick another up if you haven't disposed of the one you have already.

Here is a list of particularly awesome things:

dogs

sniping

very spicy chilli

cat claws on people (but still cool on cats)
