Posted February 12, 200817 yr Hi Guys, I need a new logo designed for a company we are setting up and was hoping that one of you graphically enabled chappies might be able to miracle something up. What's this worth to someone to do? When I did the last business (www.theloudspeakerkit.com) I found a graphic artist who wanted a home theatre system custom built but this time around the business isn't quite so interesting The name of the company is LCR Controls and we provide project management services for automated control systems projects. LCR is a play on words of the three principals' names + the symbols for inductance, capacitance and reactance (coils, capacitors and resistors). Lame, I know, but every other name we could think of was already taken! So - the logo doesn't have to be fancy, in fact the simpler the better. Anyone want to offer their services? http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/armouredservice.bmp

February 12, 200817 yr I can't believe you started LSK. That is seriously awesome, why aren't you still running it?
February 12, 200817 yr he already answered that ages ago. http://users.on.net/~mperrin/images/les_mis_kindros.png You're all wrong, and I am always right, and the sooner you accept it, the happier you will be. That is all! Va Fan Culo
February 12, 200817 yr Author Hi Jim, That's way cool, but probably a wee bit too busy for the corporate clients we'll be servicing. I think the trick with this logo will be to use the right font and colour for the text of the name rather than trying to do too much with an image or pattern, otherwise it won't render onto business cards too well. Think really, really minimalist. Daveee, LSK was awesome fun and I still design speakers for them but as a money making exercise it was always going to be marginal once the original idea got sidetracked. I started the business with a promise from Hardwarehouse that they would retail our products but when Bunnings bought them the stupid trading practices act here in WA floored the deal (even though we were based in Melb!). I got bought out by one of my staff guys and he runs the business under a different brand name now (Waplington audio) although he has left the LSK website alive. http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/armouredservice.bmp
February 12, 200817 yr Bammo, you shouldn't have any problem printing any images as long as the artwork is supplied well. I own and operate my own printing company and have never had anything print bad that was supplied correctly. I've even done lenticular 3D printing like on the old tazos.
February 12, 200817 yr Bammo, I'll work on a few designs and put them up for you to have a look at, comment on. If you find something you like we can talk chop chop snip snip until you get it the way you like it. Speaking of business cards, my mother in law was given a beauty - stainless steel. The company name and logo were etched into it and it had a cut out at one end that is perfect for opening beer bottles. Thats one way to get your company talked about! Cant imagine it would be cheap though!! Former Head Admin Check out the current admin list HERE
February 13, 200817 yr Author Thanks Jim, Yeah - I still have a business card that is a PCB from one supplier of, you guessed it, PCB's! Milsims the issue with a complex logo is that it gets lost in the noise when printed small on something like a letterhead or business card. With LSK I set the graphic designer a specific task to create a logo that had a distinct personality to act as a spokeslogo for the company. I think he did this very very well IMO. BHP wanted a logo that was instantly recognisable from a distance for pure branding purposes - so it had to be very simple and rely on a universal shape only - hence their "blob" logo. BHP didn't need to advertise the company name since it isn't selling a consumer product. LCR Controls needs a logo that identifies who we are and if possible hints at what we do without being overly clever. Our clients are utility companies and in general they are pretty conservative. The problem for me is I know what I like but I cannot tell you what this is! With LSK I just had one word to describe what I wanted, personality. With LCR I *think* that one word is simplicity but I am not sure. http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/armouredservice.bmp
February 13, 200817 yr Another idea: http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg47/Jim_aus/lcrcap1.jpg Could easily incorporate a slogan if you had anything in mind. Former Head Admin Check out the current admin list HERE
February 13, 200817 yr Author Hey Jim, Much better! Can we lose the periods (full stops) and change the font to a non-serif style (no little extended bits on the letter ends)? For some reason I look at it and think of a rebel yell! Yeeeehaaaaw.... or is that just me? http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/armouredservice.bmp
