I was listening to Gold radio on the way home looking forward to the Superbowl and beer, I even have the day off tomorrow and have a two-four! So I'm singing some Bee Gees boppin away when the news comes on. Oh good I think to myself I hope I've avoided some traffic jam. Things where going good when all of a sudden without warning the jerkoff opens up with "There's a party in New York tonight" those words I jammed my fingers in my ears screaming lah lah lah lah lah lah! So that's how I looked driving down the street for a little bit no hands on the wheel fingers in my ears windows down yelling......

Making myself look like a moron and driving dangerously proved to be a waste of effort as the damage was done and I know who won the game.

A shame too as I get to watch just a couple games a year if that. This would have been the only game I saw this season....

There is a lesson to be learnt here.

When you do not want to know the score to a certain game - mobile phone off, all phones in house unplugged, all TV's off, all radio's off.

My dad does it all the time to me with the Super14. So annoying.

i do that on sundays when i dont manage to stay up and watch a game

all i do is sit on the couch for 3 hours waiting for the replay to come on, wrapped in "cotton wool" in case someone or somthin tells me a score.

Man still watch it - it was a terrific game. Prob the best superbowl i have seen. And ive seen everyone since 49ers v chargers 1994.

Awesome game. In the 10 years or so that I have taken the day off work it would have to be one of the best SB I have seen. Giants played so much better than the Pats. They deserved to win even though they couldn't seem to get any points for a long time for the good plays. Those 2 Manning plays in the last but were fantastic.

I watched it on SBS as refuse to get pay TV just for NFL. They don't seem to play as much of it anymore anyway. I just wish SBS would bring back some weekly coverage. I am sick to death of only seeing 1 game a year.

With the Australian Nationals on the Gold Coast this year I hope to get out and see some more local stuff. Excellent!

ill see you there. 5 of my mates made the QLD team, and ill be taping the games. Good times.

I played ways back with the now defunk Toowoomba Chargers, but a lot of my old teammates got back together and played for the Browns Plains Bears.

They made it to the sunbowl but lost to the Gold Coast Stingrays.

Aussies take the sport pretty serious and get stuck in.

And yes it is tougher than league or rugby.

OMG dude the browns plains bears there club is like a 15 min walk from house and i used to play in the junior team wen i wne to browns stains high lol

hahaha it didnt take long for someone to bite....

Played much gridiron mate?

hehe Champsky.

If you were paid over $1 million a year on a 4 year contract and someone weighing 170kgs was running fulltack straight at you for 2 hours gametime + 40-60 hours training time per week for 22 weeks, are you going to stand there with no protection?

There is a reason they wear padding. To stop people dying.

I've had this argument so many times in relation to league/union being "tougher" - I have come to realise its really not.

League/Rugby you need alot of stamina, you need to be constantly running around.

NFL you need short sharp bursts of energy. You need to be built like a brick **** house and be able to run as fast as an olympic sprinter if you're those blokes that run the football, or catch it. No idea what they are called.

It is an impressive sport.

This is coming from a complete Rugby nut too, NFL is tougher than Rugby/League.

It is like comparing apples to oranges though. Completely different sports, much like Football and Volleyball so pointless comparing them.

Yeah thats pretty well much it.

Ive played all forms of footy, except soccer...ppffftttt. Aussie rules was tough in a way, with people coming in from different directions, league was just hard with so much running, rugby was fun, cause there was a lot of different stuff going on. But gridiron is tough man, real tough.

In my league we were always short of numbers so most played both ways and barely left the field. All up, probably about 50+ collisions in a game. And most of these involved the head. I was undersized, think i played at about 100kg, and i was a lineman/linebacker/fullback. Always somewhere in the middle. Some of the islander boys getting about are 150kg+. Lotsa pain. But lotsa fun. Then 1 knee went, and shortly after the next. The battering i took, and sometimes dished out, left me a bruised and sorry boy for ages after a tough game. Helmet covers head, shoulder pads from about your nipples up, and small styrophone pads on the thighs, knees tailbone and hips. Still lotsa places exposed to stick a helmet. And hitting with your head, despite being "illegal" is where its at.

the guy doing the hit is a defensive end weighing in about 125kg. Kudus for the kick returner getting up. Tough nut.

If anyone has spare knees lying around ill buy them.

I'm joining a team here in Melbourne. I have a nice dirty trick to stop people face masking too. Grab the nipples under the pads and make a fist, hurts like a bastard.

I did see the game anyway, it was the best game I've seen for Superbowl Sunday by a long way.
