Two of my favorite films of all time are Escape from New york and it's sequel (technically a remake, exactly the same in terms of plot structure and premise) Escape from LA. These films were badass. I enjoyed LA more even though NY was definitely the superior film. NY was more of a dark bleak futuristic thriller and LA was essentially a action packed remake. Snake plissken was one of the most badass anti heroes ever created for film hands down.

And for those of you who play the Metal Gear Solid series, you may be interested to know that Kurt Russel's performance as Snake Plissken was the original inspiration for the Solid Snake character in the Metal Gear series.

 

Anyway getting to the point of my post, Hollywood is wanting to recreate Escape from NY, and the man they want for the role of Snake is none other than Gerard Butler, better known as "SPAARRRTAAAAA" King Leonidas. Kurt Russel was extremely pissed off about the remake and fair enough, the character of Snake Plissken is partly of his creation. Whatchoo guys think?

Yeah theu were damn fine movies, Kurt russel's black leather full length jacket and if I remember correctly an eye patch?

 

Can't say if a remake would be that great maybe they could make escape from Coney Island hahaha

Yeah thats right, in the Good the Bad and the Ugly.

Very old movie, The gadgets used back then are still hardly seen today. lol Hollogram etc.

 

Remake will just be fool of hollywood special effects and pryro.

Yes and with all remakes there is going to be ten tons of useless back-story, take itself way too seriously, and lose the fun of the original. Snake was just an over the top character, one dimensional character, and it worked.
