Hey guys, listen I'm wondering what your thoughts are on a idea I had. The idea I have is what if we had a server dedicated to proper PR combat Simulation? what I mean by this is proper APC movement, grunt tactics, clearing every enter able building possible etc.

 

I believe this would be pretty outstanding and would be very very enjoyable, to do this there would have to be training nights that would involve Pilot training, armoured corp crewman and infantry kit training + map reading.

 

You never know, doing this may help players out in Public servers like knowing how to fly a damn chopper properly for example.

Good idea, if you can make it happen then I'll join in the action.

You could just book a specific time on Server 3 for such an event. I would come along.

This is pretty much what server 3 is around for, just no-one seems to want to use it for anything other than scrims.

 

Book it or just tell people this is when you want it to happen and get in there

Sounds good in theory. However many serious training nights and similar have been attempted before and turnout is always very low. Also isn't server 3 pretty much set up for what you want to do anyway?

 

On a slightly different note, do you play ArmA AusSniper? If you don't you really should. It caters much more to the game play you are after. Also it would be really good for playing as you have described here.

With the amount of people that turn out it will hopefully be good, yes its been a downfall in the past but a lot has changed since other events aye .

During the night I think it would be best if we have either 2 or 3 Drill instructors during the night, so I was wondering would you be up for it Captain?

Aus lol mate , Dont even bother with OpFlash2 , BIS is the real developers , and as such ArmA is the real deal. 10$ says that OFP2 will be arcadey action with elements stolen from the original OFP.

 

Trust me get ArmA.

 

Also me and Aus talked about this idea on msn after watching some aussies in combat (the language is definitely reminiscent of our squad ) , but also was the issue that we get some training sessions up specifically focused on realistic tactics , drills , formations ect. enough to the point that players don't even need to think about it. General idea was Aus would go through Formations , contact/break contact drills , fire and movement , ect. and i would handle CQB and urban movement and tactics (such as leapfrogging/bounding overwatch ect.)

 

It's a good idea but for it to work players need to dedicate themselves to the training sessions whenever they can , after all it may be fun practicing it but its not much use if when you get ingame that you can't remember what's been taught , after all in PR you hesitate out in the open under fire , you die.

If there is enough interest I will take a squad Aus. I pretty much have something to say about all aspects of inf tactics so just tell me what to focus on.

Iv noticed both of us have prenounce these differently Captin so try and pick a name and tell me and we wills stick to it lol.

PR probably isn't the best game for this, much more suited to ArmA where you can play coop games against AI (very bloody good AI at that too)

Alright then, ill get AA just give me a few weeks I have to get few things out the way first.

I want to get it but am worried that I'll not like it. The graphics for the people look terrible. I'd rather cartoony than washed out maniquin with awkward looking limbs.

You don't notice the graphics after a while because you're so immersed in the game play.

It's only the graphics I think that have kept me from getting it so far. I think I'll wait till PR dies if it does before I get it.

 

Which is more fun?

 

Do you normally play co-op or can I pop into a server and play like I do with the BF series?

I've only ever played coop, though you can just jump into a server and play like you do BF2 afaik

If you have a good enough computer the graphics look like sex, I don't even mind the long drives from one place to another because the game looks so damn pretty.

 

Though it does take a monster comp to run at max graphics I have 6600 dual core duo, 2Gb ram, and 8800GTX custom OC edition. I can run on max with good frames most of the time. (40 - 90 FPS).

 

So the poor player models are probably more a result of the computer it is running on having the graphics turned down.

 

I have been playing the XDF (aussie) mod a bit lately it is fairly cool, can't wait till they put in the aus weapons properly F88, F89, Browning HP, 66, and carly, at the moment there is only a poorly modeled F88 to keep us tided over lol. The skins look cool though.

Pretty sure they were the boys we were playing with to begin with. Then they said we had to join their clan or stop playing with them basically.

 

Haven't really played ArmA since.

 

They were good fun to play with though.
