Looks like George W B may just get that defence budget increase hes been after,and have a "legitimate reason" for keeping troops over there.

And as for Nth Korea(I'm sooo Roonely)the civys there will be the ones that suffer,and China won't be bailing them out again---UNLESS the olympics are just a way to get thousands of people from all over the world and hold them as "insurance" while China tries to take over the world. -Hell its a theory......

I would believe that Iran is on a very long hit list for the US. Though I don't think they will be capable to take them while they still have forces in Iraq.

Mainly because:

A) Iran and Iraq join at a border, and it would only be a quick hop step and a jump for an alliance between the two. They are both very strong countries when it comes to fighting and they both have a certain mentality much like bushido drilled into them through their religion.

 

B) US has never successfully won a Gulf war, let alone one which involves classic guerrilla tactics, which previously raped and pillaged their troops for a good 15 or so years in Vietnam.

 

C) Iran actually has nuclear weapons and are still building them, and are crazy enough to use them.

i dont think it'll be just the usa if they have no choice to start the tomahawk flights and F-22 FA-18 F-15 deployments

 

id reckon they surround the country take all airfields simultaneously by elite airborne devisions then start bombing the known power plant, com stations, and missile launchers.

Personally what's more worrying is the Israeli/Syrian situation...

 

Complete nuts. First the Israelis ground assault and bomb a Nth Korean run nuclear site in the Syrian desert and then the Syrians go and blow up 20 or so of their own technicians (as well as some Iranians and Nth Koreans) when they attempted to mate a chemical warhead (mentions of VX, Sarin in the reports) to a Nth Korean improved Scud.

Iran's gona lose its Nuke facility courtesy of the Israeli air force and

US intelligence...North Korea is a non starter...no way there

hooking up with the Iranians.

 

And theres no way Iran will escalate or retaliate...there air force wouldn't last 50 minutes

surrounded on all sides cept the north.

Well, from memory of a report on Nth Korea's nuclear program, China has told Nth Korea that they wont help and will likely invade them unless they re-establish diplomatic relations with the world. At the moment its sketchy at best

As a vet of the first Desert Storm which we didn't loose we where just not allowed to finish the job thanks to the polictics that got in the way. Also as a former MI REMF I doubt there will be a move on Iran at ths point the US forces are 2 spread out and there isn't enough troops to cover it all.

 

The air strike may happen with the US Carriers in the Gulf and the fact that the Stealth Bomber can reach Iran from the US. I would say they will smash the facility and let the r******s cry.

 

Plus the US and Iran don't have the greatest histroy over the last 30 years with hostages failed delta mission to rescue them ect ect ect.

I don't even know where to begin.

 

A) Iran and Iraq absulutely hate eachother, and I mean on a horrific scale. They fought very disgusting wars and will never be allies. Let's not even start on how they are different sects of the religion and that a large part of Iraq doesn't appreciate all the efforts Iran has put in in trying to kick the infidels out.

 

B) Can I have some of that crack your smoking? The US and her allies SMASHED Mr Hussien in a week. We destroyed everything and the only reason there was no regime change is Bush Sr. had done his two terms and Clinton couldn't finish the job.

 

Secong Gulf War, we smashed him again and now we are fighting an insurgency. IED's do not win wars, that is an act of desperation. Sure they are giving the Americans a hard time but in the long run there will be a Presidential change and the American military will not be able to continue.

 

In Vietnam just as now it's the politik that is costing the war not that the military is incapable. Also before such blatent disrespect is shown, Australians fought in Vietnam as well and they died to allow you to so firmly put your foot in your mouth.

 

C) If Iran had nukes there is no way in hell that the United States of America could stop Israel from sending in a few squadrons and turning Tehran into radioactive glass. Israel is very prone to such pre-emptive strikes and some press was just released by the American government that they had hit Syria like that in the past.

You've been watching too much of the news. So far less US soldiers have died in the past 4 years than on D-Day.

 

You can not win wars with IED's. The problem in reality is money, the government is not funding a budget that can pay for replacement equipment. There are plenty of soldiers it's just that eventually they will not have their trade tools so readily available.

 

The North Koreans, will get so hard and so fast with stuff they can not even see. This time not even the Chinese will help them.

 

Furthermore, if it got so bad that we had to fight Iran because they got nukes and North Korea stepped in as well they will both lose. The full force of allied total war would come to play and half the posters here would be going over seas. Japan, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, USA, India, Israel and this is without the wishy washy fence sitter Europeans. Come on now boys, the deck is stacked in our favour.

I have to admit I have been watching far too much news , even the US news they always show at least 16 soldiers died durring the last two days roughly.

Anyway I have noticed IEDs cause the lowering of US Moral. Anyway Im out of this convo enjoy

What everyone also needs to remember is that Nth. Korea and Iran are two completely different beasts.

 

In Korea, the locals would probably be very happy to accept Western help as the government is royally screwing up thier rights. Most of the time they dont have enough food because the government is spending it on bombs. What this basically means is that conquering the nation would not require large amounts of troops to provide security as Iraq does now.

 

On the other hand, Iran would be a simular situation to Iraq, except they'll fight dirty. They may not have sarin gas or "dirty" bombs lined up and ready to go but I reckon they've probably got mustard gas or something stored away, just waiting for the chance to unleash it on an unsuspecting invader. Nth Korea will probably have this too but the difference is that the local population doesn't want the country to be run by Americans or any other Westerners and again we'll have an insurgency style situation

Tread lightly in that website. A lot of vets post in there, from grunt to Brigadeer to a guy who works in SOCOM. There is also a sniper in there, oh and a whole lot of gun nuts. You need to shave a bit of a bolt of your M-16 or something and you will get some American who will get out his digi and photograph his and give instructions in minute detail.

 

Lie in there or post something really stupid and you will get embarassed out of ever posting there again. Make sure what you say is fact or post something with it to back your claim or someone will flay you.

 

Some stuff in there is really funny, some stuff that some of the vets will make you upset. Like one I read yesterday of a troop in South Africa, he had come across a woman with her babies arm in hand, just the arm and she was missing from the waist down. In his words, in the funny way of explosives she was still alive.

Being pedantic here but GB snr only served 1 term he was voted out of office.

Clinton sort of set the stage for Islamic fundamentalism. Bosnia became a bit of a rally call from Islamic extremism.

The Bosnian war became a bit like the Spanish Civil war for the islamic intelligencia. Islamise and mujahadin come from around the world to fight in it. To a large extent the "ethnic clensing" that occurred there, and the UN's unwillingness to act fostered great hatred. This led to a lot of these intellectuals becoming extremists. These new extremist went back to their countries and plotted revenge.

Part of the issue was the brief given to the UN to just observe and not intervene in the conflict. Against the soldiers better judgement they had to just preside over the genocide. This has led to the UN being a major target in the eyes of the muslim world as well as the US.

 

I always though the September 11 attacks were a very clear message. The attacked a symbol of the US and nobody claimed responsibility. There were no demands. I believe the September 11 attack were to MAKE the us attack islamic states. To drive a wedge between the West and the Muslim world and to breed more extremism as a result of the US retalliation. The US fell for it.
