Posted September 19, 200717 yr So what are your first impressions? After only a couple of rounds I can't say that I've noticed much difference in gameplay, Few more rounds needed for me to make any judgements. Could be wrong but it seemed like there were a lot of ppl disconnecting, Was that CTD's ??? Thoughts? Impressions? There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. September 19, 200717 yr I lost connection which seemed to be linked to a server restart/crash. The results of the late night mestia match didn't show either. Al Basrah - still very difficult for the Brits. Are captured civis the only way to get intel now because if so then the Insurgents could just not spawn as civi. Finding those damn ammo caches is still a royal pain in the arse. Assault on Mestia - The Devs have fixed the anti-Brit ticket bleed issue. A lot more balanced in favour of the Brits. http://users.on.net/hindes/bigdy/teamwork1.gif
September 19, 200717 yr Mestia = CTD followed by Crash (frozen PC) followed by CTD all with wildly varying pings (but that was probably an unrelated issue). Then a sudden transition from Mestia to Al Basrah with no intermediate screen? Total of 4 crashes in 10 minutes Al Basrah as Brit *seemed* a little better but impossible to find all the ammo dumps without more hints. The skins look nice though! http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/armouredservice.bmp
September 19, 200717 yr No crewman wrench, I hate it. (well, no, I don't really. I'm just sulking. Haven't even downloaded the patch yet) http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f162/rdeimel/T90sig.jpg http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f162/rdeimel/Badge-1.jpg I'm the dominatrix!
September 19, 200717 yr +1 to the new patch :victory: Extra ammo from the rally and the map balance changes really make a difference plus I missed al basrah, I love that map. BTW how is it so hard for the brits? I've won as brits plenty of times. Al Basrah - still very difficult for the Brits. Are captured civis the only way to get intel now because if so then the Insurgents could just not spawn as civi. Finding those damn ammo caches is still a royal pain in the arse. Insurgent killed: 1 IP Civilian or insurgent arrested (knifed): 7 IP Civilian killed (Under penalty conditions): -7 IP Insurgent officer killed: 7 IP Insurgent officer arrested: 14 IP The only thing that changed is that you can no longer pick up insurgent kits which used to give you 1 IP, but now you get heaps from the officer. September 19, 200717 yr We played Basrah as soon as the servers were patched up and the brits won no problem. Starts off a bit slow, then its just cache after cache. Insurgents got thumped. Server stuffed up on Kyongan Ni and auto restarted about 9-930pm aest. No tanks in Kyongan Ni - seems better on first impression. APCs still cause havoc but are easily countered. Please let us know of any problems you come across. Former Head Admin Check out the current admin list HERE
September 20, 200717 yr So far so good aside from the new disconnect issues. I'm kind of convinced it's due to the incrimental patch as I've run into that before. If you are having major problems uninstall PR delete it and download the full version. That is what they recomend on their website so try that before you freak out too much. I had the issues a couple of times but after a reboot it seemed to settle down. Also other than the random server restart it was pretty good. I definately think they have fixed up some balance issues. Miesta is far more fair and not a sniper fest anymore which is fantastic. I was on the Rebel side and we where in a help of a scrap with the British finally able to put up a solid attack. We where pushed back which is rare on that map before. I already love this map so maybe this will help people like my friend Rogue who dispise the map come around. Fingers crossed on that one. Al Basrah, great to see it back and the new ticket bleed makes holding the Outpost essential for either side. If the British hold it for the entire round they get next to no ticket bleed giving them over an hour to do an exhaustive search of the entire map. If the Insurgents take it and hold it they will win the map in 10 to 15 minutes from full tickets. That said there is a new tactic for Al Basrah which prove to be some very short rounds or one hell of a fight. I'll be posting a map strategy on it today actually. So far so good though and as long as it's somewhat stable I give it a thumbs up, so far. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. September 20, 200717 yr No tanks in Kyongan Ni - seems better on first impression. APCs still cause havoc but are easily countered. Bugger, the tanks fights on that map were the best. On all the other maps its all about who shoots first(because they're all desert maps) but on Kyongan you could actually manouver to get behind your opponent. I'm going to miss tanks on that map. Also, does anyone know if extract is fixed? They mentioned tweaking maps for gameplay and balance issues but does that include extract actually working now? Can we test it on server 3 sometime? http://users.on.net/hindes/bigdy/insurgency.gif Undisputed King of Insugency, Allahu Akbah!! God damn black people can run fast.
September 20, 200717 yr *wants extract nite* http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p198/firehawk88/siggg-1.png Jack In Kick Ass
September 20, 200717 yr Negative, extract is not even included in this patch, let alone fixed. I will be downloading the full install as well. Fresh is best :victory: Former Head Admin Check out the current admin list HERE
September 20, 200717 yr Negative, extract is not even included in this patch, let alone fixed. Well there goes the "Insurgency Insanity" Community Campaign night....... http://users.on.net/hindes/bigdy/insurgency.gif Undisputed King of Insugency, Allahu Akbah!! God damn black people can run fast.
September 20, 200717 yr I enjoyed Kyongan Ni last night - no tanks puts the emphasis back onto infantry battles with the odd APC to spice things up. Are there any 16/32p maps that are now playable that weren't before? Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
September 20, 200717 yr Hell yes, I'm already planning the next super scrim for Mestia or Basrah. :victory:
September 20, 200717 yr well i worked out that i need the patch to play other wise you get a CTD and my patch i download last night is buged so im going to rage quit and start downloading it again. i mite see you guys on tonight idiots are hardcoded
September 20, 200717 yr I didn't even realise that tanks were missing during that Kyongan Ni round but I can't wait to play again. APCs are still dangerous but are also fairly easy to take out meaning that we essentially get a 32p infantry map. I played Al Basrah last night, one round for each side, and the Brits got thumped by several hundred points both times. As Smoke said the cappable flag is what determines the outcome. A small Brit team is going to have a hard time defending that while searching for ammo caches, while a small Insurgent team can focus all of its efforts on that flag. The fact that intel on ammo caches is so inaccurate really frustrates me. They really should be inside the circle, not anywhere upto 30m away from it (even when the map is zoomed out). I do like the new Mestia and combined with the 500second PB sleep adjustment it lags less too. Pitty the same can't be said for Basrah. APCs are pretty pointless though as they rarely last more than a minute or two. There are no open areas on the map which means that enemies can effortlessly C4, mine, RPG or SLAM them. The removal of the Crewman's wrench will no doubt have a major effect on the game. The side who has engineers to support their tanks will now clean the floor with their opponents. I've lost count of the times that I retreated in my tank to repair myself. I'm not sure how many volunteers there will be for a non-combat role though. http://users.on.net/hindes/bigdy/teamwork1.gif
September 20, 200717 yr Are there any 16/32p maps that are now playable that weren't before? Havent tested them yet, by all means jump into server two and try them. Smaller maps are loaded and ready to go on 2. The removal of the Crewman's wrench will no doubt have a major effect on the game. September 20, 200717 yr Well at least the support vehicle will be used as its meant to be. In 0.609 it was used as a private transport for crewman to get back to thier tank after they'd been killed while repairing http://users.on.net/hindes/bigdy/insurgency.gif Undisputed King of Insugency, Allahu Akbah!! September 20, 200717 yr Ok Ancient has tested the smaller maps and all appear to be working aside from bi ming (no big loss but sorry for those people who DID like it). So server 2 will be loaded out with 16p maps where possible, and 32 where 16 is not available. They will need to be tested for playability and constructive feedback would be appreciated. There are quiet a few changes to the way the maps play in this patch. Former Head Admin Check out the current admin list HERE
September 20, 200717 yr Basically every map now has a working 16p variant, yes, including Kashan/7Gates/Mestia etc... So expect server 2 and 3 to get more of a workout with these smaller maps. Also, it seems that the smaller maps have had balance issues fixed from differing layouts than before. Desert Storm has been removed, so don't expect to see that being played in the rotation. Insurgency has been completely removed as previously said, due to the checkpoints not being registered, so its only AASv2 and Insurgency. September 20, 200717 yr I played Al Basrah last night, one round for each side, and the Brits got thumped by several hundred points both times. The British won the second round as me and a couple guys held onto the outpost with 80 or so tickets left like men possesed. I team switched to play British twice as I knew we could do better than that and wanted another go at it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/SirChuc/smokejumper3.jpg http://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/valorousunit.bmphttp://bigdgaming.net/images/added/awards/OperationCrownRibbon02.jpg Or as one of many thousands of Canadians have said, my guns are at the bottom of that lake. September 20, 200717 yr Sweeeeet 16 player maps are back!! Will try to test them for scrim potential... Ancient, do you mean Extract has been removed, not insurgency. Edited September 20, 200717 yr by McCloud Where's the cheese? http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/2315/ubd4327.png
September 20, 200717 yr Sorry Smokejumper, I forgot. I left mid way through the second game (as Brits) with the tickets in the region of 100 v 400. Nice job in securing a victory. http://users.on.net/hindes/bigdy/teamwork1.gif
