Easy answer, Forgotten Hope is still being played and there is a crazy amount of people who will purchase BF2 just to play the mod.

 

Furthermore, unlike PR as much as I have fun playing it they have not released a full mod. It's a work in progress and we have had to deal with all the glitches and bugs along the way.

 

Forgotten Hope 2 is a total conversion and will be more or less finished when it's released which is more than we can even say for vanilla.

 

We also need to keep in mind the lure of the Spitfire. Once this mod is out I'll pretty much say good bye to PR only because I'm a WW2 game fanboi not that PR is a poor game.

What? There's no Guarantee that Forgotten hope will be anywhere near complete or bug free once they release it , no offense but that's just nieve to think so.

 

Infact There's no such thing as a bug free mod. And I seriously doubt they will have ALL of the content they planned in the first release of FH2.

 

Also PR is no longer a mini mod , I'm completely willing to call it a total conversion , yes it still uses alot of vanilla content , but so do most mods out there at the moment. But besides the models it does use , they have made huge changes to not only the gameplay and game mechanics , but most of the coding as well. Can you truly say that for other BF2 mods at the moment?

 

Besides sandy's point was that this is a BF2 mods list , not BF1942 , as such un-released mods should not be in the list.

That's me. I just bought BF2 at the time thinking I'd play it for a few months then get bored, shelve it and bring it out when FH2 arrived.

 

It got pulled out a bit earlier because of PR (although that's on the wane IMHO).

 

Exactly the same with BF2142. I'll only bother to buy a copy of that POS when First Strike comes out.

 

PS It does say it's for released and unreleased mods. I cast my vote! (for Pirates 2 mod)

PR is not a total conversion by any stretch of the imagination the way FH2 is going to be. Of course there will be bugs in the game as there are with every game. I just think and believe the devs when they tell me that they will not release until it's finished, more or less. This is just the first campaign and more are on the way.

 

Let's again take PR as an example, sure it's no longer a mini mod but we're not yet at version 1 are we? When Forgotten Hope 2 is out it will be the full version not .6 or .7 but 1.0.

 

Then we will move onto more campaigns. I also know that when PR is long dead us WW2 fanbois will still be ripping **** up in a Corsair or humiliating people with a Lee Enfield bolt action rifle.

As you can see I'm really biased through shear excitement.

 

No worrys about offending me, I just look at things through rose coloured glasses sometimes. No point being all disappionted until I have to.

I think part of the frustration is that the FH team havn't released anything apart from the screenshots. Sure, the mod will be 1.0 when its finished and it will still have bugs (you can never iron them all out in beta testing, it requires large scale public tests) but fact is, it isn't released yet and nobody except the devs have played it so i dont see how people can say it's going to be the best game/mod ever. A comparison is me saying that Crysis will be the best game ever but come 3 years time, it will probably be mostly forgotten and played by the hard-core fans. Crysis isn't out yet so how would I know if its the best game ever?

 

For reference, I still think Scorch is the most awesome game I have played

There is also a fan made creation Scorched 3D. As you've guessed, it's 3D, Rather nifty.
