Weird topic , but bear with me.

I've always wondered if when say we've caught a particular person hacking or playing in an undesirable fashion , should their behavior reflect on their clan in the sense that we should be weary or in some form prejudiced against members of that clan?

I've seen clans full of hackers predominately in vBF2 , I'm not going to name them , but I have seen it before . Even the ones punkbuster fails to get.

So Im asking , is it fair to be at least weary or watchful?

Yes definately, in my UK clan we would bounce any member caught hacking and in fact named and shamed him. He was banned from all our servers which was one of the top three clan servers in the UK. We then provided the information to other clans and had him banned on many other servers as well.

In no uncertain terms should you cheat and if you do you should be publicly flogged. If a clan member comes to the bD server and discredits his team when they sort it after they see the screenies I would expect them to post an apology with details on said players removal from the clan otherwise they should all be lumped into the same low life scum sucking cheater catagory.

Cheating? Definate uber-hard-core-anal-penetration on their behaviour. It is totally unacceptable.

Undesirable play. Depends on what you mean. Obviously TKing and Teabagging your own team aint cool but against an enemy, I dont see why that should reflect on the team as a whole

By undesirable play , I mean guys who are real assholes , and you do get a few elitist clans out there who think the virtual battlefield is their playground alone and every one else can kiss their arse.

So far the verdict is cheating = Yes , whole clan needs to be watched , whereas undesirable play = leave it alone unless there are repeat offenders?

You're correct on the undesirable behaviour but I think you'll find most clans will kick out cheaters. Its when clans dont kick out cheaters that you need to watch them

Well the fact is, it DOES reflect on a team as a whole,

It's not until a member/members of that team stands up and says that they don't condone the bad behaviour whether it be cheating, being a prick or whatever,

that team couldn't possibly be seen in a good light IMO.

Imagine if a member of your clan had a bad attitude towards other players, was arrogant, selfish, rude, and not liked by the community.

If no members of that clan took a stand and announced to the community that the clan doesn't like the persons behaviour,

A reasonable assumption would be that that clan doesn't care if their members have bad attitudes, are arrogant, selfish, rude and aren't liked by the community.

Therefore this reflects on that clan, whether you don't think it should or not.

Furthermore, If a clan sticks up for a person like that,

That clan puts themselve's smack bang in the middle of that same basket.

There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. A high-powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.

Generally if one member does something stupid, is hacking, or whatever, they'll be in VOIP or TeamSpeak LoL'ing about it to one another. So yes, it does reflect on the whole clan.

Why am I getting that nausiating feeling of Deja vu?

This better not be going where I think its going Blacky, we've had this argument multiple times already and on multiple occasions we've resolved it to a satisfactory extent on our behalf.

You would be suprised how many clans dont kick proven hackers, !GuN! senior admins work around the clock basically, finding kicking, banning, blacklisting and shaming these tools onto the PsB master ban list with unrelentless devotion.

As for tardish beahvior, no it shouldn't directly reflect onto the clan, unless its habitual and the clan is aware and the clan still does nothing. You either run a clean clan or you dont.

If the clan kicks/punishes the offenders then it shouldn't reflect on the clan if they do nothing or condone it then they are responsible as well.

I think no matter way you slice it, if you wear a clan tag anything you do, and how you act does reflect onto your clan or group. Image is everything when it comes to games, mainly because you are a just a person behind a keyboard or mouse. There is no personal aspect rarely to anyone.

And unfortunately if people act like tools when wearing tags, or are even known to be in or associated with a clan or group, the tags rep sticks.

You always have to be mindful of how you personally act, as well as people who are representing you because you are wearing the same shirt.

You're all wrong, and I am always right, and the sooner you accept it, the happier you will be. That is all!
