Just thought I'd pop in and let everyone know that Breaking Point (formally Arma 3 Mod) has gone Standalone and they have just started a kick starter.

 

About The Game: Breaking Point is an online multiplayer survival game set in the decades following the downfall of modern society to a deadly viral outbreak. Our goal is provide a balanced mixture of hardcore realism with the gameplay of a modern military shooter. A massive, open world with hardcore survival and combat elements, in depth environmental interaction, and terrifying, intelligent AI. Your goal is carve out your own space in this hostile world and decide whether or not to take part in a war that is raging between the rival factions that have taken over the land. Surviving means making alliances and taking what you need from opposing factions, whether that be skills, resources, or their lives.

I put god knows how many hours into playing the mod and I know a few BigDers used to play it a lot so thought I might as well share it.

Good old Breaking Point.

 

No idea how they are going to produce anything remotely playable, let alone complete, in only 1 year. But I'll be keeping an eye on it just in case.

Yea Loved BP =p I Mean They've Been Working On It For Well Over A Year Now, Getting The Base Coding And Building Blocks Done. Tbh I'm Surprised How Far They've Come Without Doing The Kickstarter Sooner.

Squad was only 12 months in development before it released onto Steam as Pre-Alpha!

I've been keeping an eye on the Standalone since it was first just a whisper .. certainly looks interesting and the kickstarter is going well so far, still a large amount to go though .

Latest news on the release of the original Breakingpoint mod source code is promising, looks like Deathly is keeping his word on it .

Yea They Have A Hell Of A Long Way To Go, Its Definitely A Big Goal That's For Sure.

 

BP Source Code Will Be Really Interesting, I'm Gunna Have A Nosey When It Gets Released For Sure, Poke Around And See If The Old Zombies Are In There Somewhere haha

Their non-EA stance is very interesting, and refreshing I must say.

Anyone remember a young fella that went by the nic Ancientman ? ... got sick of the way PR was and pretty much rebuilt the entire game ( with help ..) .

Works for some company now ..Bohemia Interactive ..whoever the hell they are ..

 

This is of course on a much grander scale ..but I like the idea of a bunch of randoms making a game.
