BigD Gaming proudly presents YOLO, our very own take on single life missions in Squad. This will be our maiden voyage so come along and see whats its all about.

Friday the 21st October, 8:00PM AEDT

Background: Afghani Taliban have been crossing the border and attacking local Pakistani villages. In an attempt to reassure the local populous and to create a staging area for future operations, the US army has decided to make a FOB overlooking the village of Jouzara.

Nice event tonight. Lots of variety in there for all. Definitely a lot we can build off.

First of all, a massive thanks to the organisers!!!

Seeing as it was the first event, things went rather well but a few points that need to be addressed for future games.

-Layout the squads plan before stepping off!!!

-Squad cohesion needs to be encouraged more and a hierarchy implemented... if the SL goes down, what happens next???

-Better use of real life squad tactics, movement, cover, suppression, etc.

-Less specific missions. The timers and Logi supply rule ruined the first few games as it encouraged the opposite of what these events should be, slow, methodical and tactical play.

The first games would have been much better if the location of the US FOB was a little more open, give a general area of operations and let the commander take it from there.

The not knowing, encourages better tactics and less rushing.

First off, great work guys on putting a one life event together. I had loads of fun!

The scenario at the start worked really well after the logistic truck drop = win was ditched.

I think a cool mission to try would be to get one team in early to build up a significant fob then have the other team spawn in say 15 - 20 minutes later, after they have had a bit of time to construct a decent defensive position.

Also maybe have insurgents ambush a convoy, would be hectic. Say have a road on the map when they set up and the Americans have to break through.

Just some suggestions I thought I'd throw out there, you've probably already thought about them

I agree with Flanders the unassigned rifle men only games were great, someone said it last night. I think have a structured mission then after that's done since everyone is together do some rounds of that.

I know everyone is here to have fun, and don't want things to be to serious but I feel that when hosting something like one life most of the people who want to be involved are looking for some more structured, role play military sim type gameplay, it might just be me and I may be wrong.

One thing that was annoying last night was the guy, I am unsure who it was that constantly said the opposite thing that Spono and Steez were requesting everyone do, saying the opposite of the password, saying the opposite of everything.

I don't find it hard to follow what's going on, I don't mean this in a derogatory sense but some guys seem to find it hard to distinquish the difference between the admins voices and someone trolling which creates unnecessary confusion. As I said I know it's about having fun but I don't think one life events are the place to be constantly doing that.

Thanks again for organising and hosting these events

See you on the battlefield in Godorok on Sunday!

:)

Yeah, there was a bit too much fucking about at the start, which only made it more difficult to get started.

But hopefully when things are more organised and structured, this won't be (as much of) an issue.

The aim should be to have the squads and their plans all laid out in Discord, before spawning in. Then as soon as we spawn, group up into squads and fire teams.
