Having trouble with punkbuster?

Make sure your firewall always allows punkbuster access to the internet.

Manually updating should fix most problems.

Download the punkbuster manual update program here.

Also, to help with lag, open up the command console ingame by pressing the ` button, and type:

"pb_sleep 500"

(make sure there is a space between sleep and 500)

Press enter. Then type:

"pb_writecfg"

then press enter.

 

This tells pb to scan your harddrive every 500 seconds instead of every 20 seconds.

hey thanks for the tip it worked but that second thing u rite in "pb_writecfg" does that mean it saves it like that so u dont have to type it in evry time u are in a game ?

Thats correct, writecfg saves the command to the config file.

However, some players find they need to re-enter both commands every time they restart PR, as it seems to reset once the client is shutdown - myself included.

Time to update again.

 

Some of you may have been kicked recently for 'interupted packet flow' or similar.

Download and run pbsetup (link in first post).

Doesnt hurt to run it 2 or 3 times.

Yeah been given me the pooties, I was just using Taskmanager to stop Punkbuster A & B seemed to fix it temporarily

just a quick reminder you can stop pnkbstr a and b processes for now

but afteer next update if you stop the process you'll get kicked.

Ive never had problems before.. Updated and its been going ok but last night got kicked 2-3x within 2 hrs.

MMMM.....I've also never had a problem with punkbusteruntil last week and now I get the same as most of you...kicked for 'corrupted packet flow' I updated pb but still get the same probelms.

I always get kicked when I finish a round a new map loads up, when I click on 'Join', bingo I get kicked. I have to quit out of BF2 and then rejoin.

 

I'll give the pb A & B thing a go tonight.

Just update manually via the webpage, and you should be sweet,

Ditto...I did the manual update and I still get kicked..

Keep updating daily until it works for you.

Make sure PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe have access through your firewall.

 

Seems to be a problem with punkbuster lately, they cant release an update without stuffing everyone up for a while afterwards.

you could try updating PB more then once

i did the manual update, which got rid of the packet loss error and now its kicking me for being unable to receive a heartbeat or sum bull****. Im getting ****ing pissed off with punkbuster, i swear it waits for crucial moments in the game when your flying or about to destroy a tank to kick you. Its all a conspiracy!!! We're all doomed! DOOMED!

Do u have any antivirus,or anti spyware running while playing...Pb needs internet access these days.

I had a b!tch of a time with it for a while but all fine now.

(probably jinxed myself now..).

nah ive got no antivirus program or firewall on heh, which sounds stupid but i realised when i didnt load norton my fps increased by about 10, and nortons just generally annoying anyway so i got rid of it.

havent tried playing again but maybe the new error was just a one off thing, im also using a different computer now cause the other one nearly exploded in the heat (the fans broke lol)

Have you tried the "pb_sleep 500" ,then the "pb_writecgf" command?

in the console(~) while in game?.

 

not sure if this is the right situation for that but,can't hurt to try.

this means that pb will only auto update every 500 secs instead of the default period (not sure what the default is...).

there are so many theorys out there atm about pb its hard to know what works and what doesn't.
