Posted August 22, 200717 yr I've been using the riflemen increasingly nowadays, but not for the usefulness of an ammo dump, but because of the x4 zoom. Back in 0.5, the riflemen was great for a constant ammo supply, plus he wore body armour. However, now, everyone but spec ops has body armour and the ammo giving capabilties suck (I find people asking for supply crates more then riflemen ammo) - I know you're suppose to NOT stand directly on the rifleman's ammo bag so it isn't sapped up, but he can't resupply his ammo bags and the ammo bag in itself is very limited. I'm wondering whether our solid riflemen is really that valuable at a squad level anymore. Don't get me wrong; I LOVE the kit, but only because of that zoom. Is our poor rifleman going the same way as a marksman (ie. awesome killing machine, but really not that useful to the squad) and should we really be using him as much as we are? http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d191/workingrobbie/Avvy/battlemonkey.gif
August 23, 200717 yr Yeah I agree seems that the support role has been limited to null and void but as all round kit its good, armour nades, smoke, zoom. puts it in my kit of choice. August 23, 200717 yr Ill spawn as rifleman if requested by sl, but it really becomes a matter of tossing that bag down once and moving on. The scope is great, I agree with that. So I guess, first and foremost, he SHOULD be a killing machine, complete with nades and not an ammo carrier. August 23, 200717 yr The reason why they gave the rifleman one ammo bag was to stop him being a make-shift field medic (ie, bandage spamming). Chances are, to fix the ammo issue they will give the rifleman two bags of ammo, but only allow one to exist in the world at a time. There has been some discussion about removing ammo completely. Currently, the best way to ensure ammo is with a vehicle (as rallypoints are currently broken with the ammo aspect). August 23, 200717 yr Gota say guys, I would love to see at least 2 ammo bags from a rifleman, but that said, there is also the support gunner that has an ammo bag. I have been on support & used this bag to reload an "AT" So I guess all it does is change the way kits are utilised... If anything, the 0.609 release has been notorious at doing this... August 24, 200717 yr He can still get bandages. 1 ammo bag will replenish his bandages + his ammo bag. It's just impossible to give anyone else ammo if you want to resupply your ammo bag. 2 bags would be good, they just need to code it so resupplying your own ammo bag doesn't take up 90% of the actual bag you drop.
