Squad Leading/Commanding
Leading in Squad is a mix of tactical foresight, emotional intelligence, and battlefield improvisation.
Squad Leader (SL) Tips
Tactical Leadership
• Set clear objectives: Always give your squad a purpose—attack, defend, scout, build. Wandering leads to confusion.
• Use the map proactively: Mark enemy positions, rally points, and movement paths. Visual cues keep your squad aligned.
• Build smart FOBs: Place them in defensible, concealed locations with good access to objectives—not just “close.”
• Use assets wisely: Don’t waste UAVs or strikes. Time them to break stalemates or support key pushes.
• Spot and relay threats: Use UAVs to find enemy FOBs, armour, or flanks—and share that intel fast.
• Track tickets and tempo: Know when to push, when to stall, and when to defend.
Communication Mastery
• Keep comms concise: Use short, direct phrases. “Hold here,” “Push left,” “Enemy Logi East."
• Communicate with other SLs: Flanks, defences, and logistics require teamwork. You’re part of a larger puzzle.
• Direct without dictating: Guide your SLs with intent— “We need pressure north,” not “Go here now.”
• Stay calm under pressure: Your tone sets the mood. Even in chaos, clarity wins.
• Be the calm in the storm: SLs are juggling chaos. Your job is to simplify, not overwhelm.
• Support fellow SLs emotionally: A quick “good work” or “need anything?” keeps leaders engaged and focused.
Squad Management
• Balance roles: Ensure you have 2x medics, 2x AT (LATs/HAT), and support roles, especially for full 9-man squads. Don’t let everyone go marksman.
• Empower initiative: Let players take point, scout, or build defences/emplacements—after Rep Bay/HABs are built.
• Adapt constantly: If a plan fails, pivot. Flexibility wins games, Stubborn SLs lose them.
Strategic Oversight
• Think in phases:
• Early game: Establish FOBs and secure map control
• Mid game: Apply pressure and disrupt enemy movements
• Late game: Focus on defence and clutch plays
• Prioritize logistics: Supply drops, vehicle spawns, and build orders win matches more than airstrikes.
