New to Bellum?

You do not need to be a military expert or an experienced mil-sim player to contribute. The most useful things a new player can do are:

Use a microphone and communicate clearly.

Stick with your squad.

Listen to your squad leader.

Learn the basic medical system.

Treat every life as valuable.

Ask questions when you are uncertain.

Hit the books and learn efficient ways to communicate.

Bellum rewards players who work together, regardless of their individual experience level.

Getting Started

This section introduces the basics every new player should know before joining their first match. Learn how Bellum differs from traditional shooters, what to expect during a match, and the mindset needed to be an effective teammate.

First Match Guide

Your first match in Bellum may feel very different from traditional first-person shooters. Instead of focusing on individual performance, Bellum rewards teamwork, communication and careful decision-making. Every player has an important role, and staying alive is often just as valuable as securing eliminations.

When you join a server, find an active squad and stick with your teammates. Let your Squad Leader know if you're new, follow their instructions and don't be afraid to ask questions. Bellum has a welcoming community, and most experienced players are happy to help new recruits learn the ropes. Stay with your squad, communicate clearly and enjoy the experience confidence comes with every match.

Understanding Limited Lives

Unlike many shooters with unlimited respawns, Bellum gives every player a limited number of lives. Every casualty reduces your team's available manpower, making each decision on the battlefield more meaningful. Charging into combat without a plan can quickly put your squad and ultimately your team at a disadvantage.

Staying alive is just as important as completing objectives. Work closely with your squad, use cover, communicate enemy positions and avoid taking unnecessary risks. A disciplined team that preserves its fighting strength will often outperform one that relies solely on aggressive play.

Communication Basics

Communication is one of the most important skills in Bellum. Success depends on squads sharing information, coordinating movements and working together towards a common objective. Whether you're reporting enemy positions, requesting medical assistance or acknowledging orders, clear communication helps your entire team perform more effectively.

Bellum features local voice chat, squad radio and platoon communications, each serving a different purpose on the battlefield. Keep your callouts short, accurate and relevant, and avoid unnecessary chatter during combat. Good communication can often make the difference between victory and defeat.
