Hello everyone,
As we've now come to the end of the first quarter of 2023, let us reflect on what has happened in BigD Hell Let Loose so far this year, and what we still have to look forward to.
Most excitingly, BigD Events team member WeatheredxGumby has recently become a first-time Dad!!!! We all wish him and his family our heartiest congratulations, and sincere hope that he’s getting enough sleep!
The new website is now up and running, and you can find the Hell Let Loose portal at https://www.bigd.com.au/hell-let-loose/. If you love BigD and wish to support us, you can view the subscription options at https://www.bigd.com.au/subscriptions/. Subscribers are eligible for server whitelisting, allowing them to skip the queue when the server is nearly full. All donations go 100% toward server operating costs.
Server seeding remains a big focus as always, and we would very much welcome anyone who has time during the day to help with seeding the BigD servers. As our way of saying thanks, players who spend a minimum of 1 hour a week seeding will be eligible for a coupon for 15 days of free whitelisting. To join the HLL Seed Team, please contact a Senior Admin or express your interest in the #hll-seeding channel on the BigD discord.
Game updates
As everyone no doubt knows, Hell Let Loose is now in the hands of a new developer, Team17. They have already released Update 13.5, aimed at fixing many of bugs from Update 13 or earlier. Don’t forget, if you’re experiencing any bugs in the game, to submit feedback via the official Hell Let Loose Discord (https://discord.gg/hellletloose). Along with this update has come a new roadmap for 2023, which you can view here, and the latest developer brief here.
BigD HLL Server updates
The BigD HLL Senior Admin team has been busy so far this year, reviewing the server rules and experimenting with new features to improve the player experience.
Some key changes:
- The server seeding threshold has been increased from 15 v 15 to 20 v 20, to give players a better experience when a match comes off seeding.
- “No Locked Solo Armour Squads” has been updated to “No Locked Solo Heavy Tanks”, which gives players and Commanders a bit more flexibility in the deployment of armour.
- After a successful trial, map voting has now been enabled on both BigD HLL servers. At the end of each round, players are given the option of 3 warfare and 2 offensive maps, which they can vote for in the text chat by typing !votemap then the number of the desired map.
BigD HLL Staff updates
There have been quite a few staff changes in BigD HLL this year. Sadly, we have had some staff members step down from their roles due to a lack of time or to pursue other things, and we thank them for the effort they’ve put in and wish them the best. We also have some new faces in various roles, both from promotions and new appointments.
Firstly, we congratulate Foyboys member Stanna on his promotion from HLL Senior Admin to BigD Community Manager. Stanna has long been a driving force behind BigD HLL and devotes an insane amount of time and effort to making BigD awesome.
Next, Rabid (from Emu War Veterans) and Shircle (from OC), both well-known members of the BigD community, have joined -T A T T O O- as BigD HLL Senior Admins. This new Senior Admin team has hit the ground running, working hard in the background to make HLL on BigD better.
And last, but not least, we have welcomed several new faces to the HLL Admin team, namely Adjalon and Th3Guy23 from OC, and TomKat121111 from EWV. We thank them for putting their hands up to help keep BigD servers a safe and enjoyable place to play HLL. Anyone else who feels that they have the necessary skills and experience, and would like to help, can submit an admin application here.
BigD Events
We’re pleased to announce that the BigD HLL State of Origin will be happening again soon! Last year, the Blues team took victory. Will they be able to do it again in 2023 or will the Maroons come out on top? Please visit the #hll-event-info channel on the BigD discord and sign up here!
