Hi all,

I'm looking for a printer to buy. I am a student and require quick prints, with no hassles as well as photocopy functionality and wireless printing from laptop/tablet/phone.

I'm looking at printers such as the Epson XP-400 and Canon PIXMA 4260.

Have you guys got any experience with these printers or ones in this price range ($100) to give some suggestions?

Cheers

Look around for whatever has the cheapest ink refills. You don't want to be paying $40+ every month or two when it runs out.

Get a laser printer, you can pick up mono ones for less than $100 probably. More if you want colour (do they even do colour?)

But yeah, the more you spend on the printer (laser) the less you spend on ink - I fell into that trap. Spent $50 on a canon and the ink has lasted a fair while, but it's like $40 for new cartridges.

^^ maybe pick one up from Orifice Works, got mine for $40 last year. replace when inks out :p

though, this does not fit the brief... :p

Laser printer would be ideal, although I haven't seen one in my price range with a scanner/photocopier built in, anyone know any brands/models that are more reliable than others?

I Got The Epson XP-200, Cheap As Chips To Run, Printer Scanner Ink Of Course And WiFi Printing. Does What I Need it For Which Is Just General Printing Of Pictures Or Documents. Isn't What You Want If You're Looking For Ultra High Quality images But Does A Good Job.

$$ NZ Dollars $$, You Guys Don't Get Ripped Off Like We Do Over Here Prob Be Alot Cheaper. And The Same Cartridges I Use Are used In The XP-400.

Printer $76

Ink Small Cartridges = $16 (175 Pages)

Ink Large Cartridges = $33 (500 Pages)

USB cable A-B = $19

Brother or HP Would Be My Favorite Brand Though But The Price You Pay Is Just .. Wowzor.

with printers never just look at price as alot of company's just make money out of ink and sell printers cheaply and have expensive ink so find the perfect spot for yourself with your printing needs

eg

printer $40

ink $70 and only does a couple hundred pages

or Printer $300

ink $30 and does 1000's pages

for lots of printing a more expensive printer is cheaper in the long run but if your only going to print a couple pages a year then a $40 officeworks special will do

Cheers Buzz, that's probably the one I will go for, I don't see much need of going for the more expensive XP-400. It has the features that I need at a nicer price.
