So after the hard drive died I am trying too install Pr again. Now BF2 won't install.

Error is from the install shield wizard..... Failed to install Battlefield 2, try again from the beginning....

Have tried from the start a few times with the same result. Running in XP mode service pack 3 and as administrator. This is from the original CD

I'd say there is a problem with the disk

1) Clean it - try again

if that doesn't work

2) Try making an image of the disk (daemon tools) and mounting the image on the virtual drive and attempting to install

if that doesn't work

3) Download a new image

Just a quick Q noddy, it's not possible to get your current CD key from anywhere on the computer is it? I read it was possible ages ago, but can't find anything more recently.

I've got a legit copy, but I've lost the disc/key and finding a new copy is a real pain.

Yurp use Regedit to find your BF2 code if needed.

to elaborate..

Type "regedit" in Start Menu > Run

navigate to....

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 2\ergc

Then click the file on the right hand side (Default), right click it, and click modify. Copy what is written here.(C & P it into a new text doc) Now, this is the final step and applies to both steps. What your CD-Key is, is everything that program, or regedit, tells you after x9392.

Only thing is... (and heres the catch..) IF YOU HAVE PATCHED THE GAME IT ENCODES YOUR KEY !!!!!!. :not_i:

Ah damn it then. I assume that patch would be the 1.41 that it automatically installed on my old copy :/

Cheers EA for that one!
