Hey,

I'm trying to install Assassins Creed 1 (&2) but when I put the DVD in the drive all I get is some weird clunking noises and the spinup sound going fast then slow.

Sometimes clicking on the DVD icon in Windows Explorer will eventually bring up the contents of the DVD, but nothing works in it. It's happening for both the 1st DVD and the 2nd DVD but my Hilltop Hoods CD was working fine yesterday.

I had a similar problem installing C&C 4 a few weeks ago, but in the end it works and I sometimes get the same problem trying to watch DVD's but it usually works after a little while.

 

Any idea on what I can do? Its the stock drive in my ASUS M50VC laptop.

    Clean the drive ?.

    (got one of those CD cleaner discs ? , you know the one with the little brush..)

    Yeah thanks for that B, I've admitted defeat. The drive may be buggered so I might go and get one of those USB drives tomorrow.

    This old lappy has lead a hard life (4yrs) - the keyboard doesn't work fully and she has a bit less grunt than what she used to ;)

     

    New desktop is coming in the next few weeks though!

    My sisters Used To Do This. Found It Only Did It On The Newer Discs. So Just Got Her A Cheap LG DVD 21st century =p Thingo And All Fixed.
