what OS again? if its Vista/7 you could try creating a recovery disc from your install media. That way you can/could boot into recovery console and run some checks etc.

BIOS Safe settings would be more if you've oc'd the machine.

you can create a recovery CD from your OS Install disc. another thing you could try is to do an OS repair, booting from your install disc.

LOL so you lost control because of a bad USB driver

maybe think about trying to find some really old ps/2 keyboard and mouse and throw them in conner to prevent this next time

Exactly, all USB's had power but no mo-jo ;) Could use m&k in bios but not computer..... very restricting. Anyway the restore CD and a 'repair' did the trick. Good thing i had my iphone handy!! Yeh it was just the crappy lacie installer preparing a driver or the registry for the installation next, and completely f'ed up my USB's (3.0,2.0,eSATA)

wasnt talking to you as every person who wants to not have to pay to have their PC repaired should have it

just the keyboard should be fine

Had this just the other day. I think mine was because of Windows 7 SP1 but can't be sure.

You need:

A. PS2 Keyboard

or

B. Remote Desktop Access

I had A. so I logged in, go to device manager > Expand "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" > Right click and click uninstall on all "USB Root Hub" > Restart

Magic, back in business.

If you have not enabled RDP through Computer Properties > Remote Settings than you probably need A. but you could go to another PC in your house if able, open Remote Desktop (Start > Run > mstsc) and type in your PC name to see if you can connect.

EDIT: Ahh you fixed it the hard way. Nice.
