Easiest way to get through school in NZ.

NO RACISM INTENDED

In comparison, you get 14 NCEA credits in English for doing English, but for doing Maori, you get 54 level 1 credits. What does the community think of this?

Oh and also, you get 90 credits if you do kapa haka aswell.

Well I did 1 semester (2 terms) of Maths C which I passed with a C. I then dropped that for Drama and now I am getting A's for that.

Because I passed 1 semester of Maths C my OP gets dropped by 1 point if I'm on the edge of lowering a point e.g. If I was on OP 7 and was a few points away from OP6 then I would be automatically dropped to OP6.

Don't know what the system is in NZ so I dunno what you're on about.

EDIT - I guess its to encourage people that wouldn't normally do school, to do school and to try and do well at it.

But if you don't get 14 credits in English and 14 in maths you fail, so those are a whole bunch of useless credits. The easiest way is [noddy snip] to ace the exams cause its all easy anyway.

[Reason for edit] - you can't control any genetic or other defects which may cause developmental problems when you were born - so to use the term how you did I can only assume you were trying to be funny. It wasn't.

I can't see this thread ending well tbh.

Already one post will have to be modified as it will cause offence.

Thanks for taking the time to actually read my edit before you made another asinine comment.

DON'T YOU CLUCK WITH ME, BUDDY!

----------------------

After that night I started peeing out the window to avoid going down the hallway when it was dark.

have no idea what the grade system is like these days. all i can remember when i was in high school was how all the kids who were either:

- disruptive in class

- always in fights

would always be going on 'adventure' camps to try and help them re-enage with the school system or some such carp like that. knowing some of those kids tho they didn't give two hoots about re-engaging.

it was even worse when you had disruptive kids (attention seekers) in class who would always be pulling their 'hey look at me' carp in class and making it a lot harder for other students, yet nothing was done about them because they had good grades. or worse, those who were in the running for dux being caught red handed copying assignments straight from the internet and STILL getting pass grades on it. why wasn't anything done about them? simple really it would've lowered the grade average of the school thus stuffing things up for their funding.

There comes a time in every musician's life when they must decide what instrument they should master. Few. If any are ever worthy enough to master. The cowbell.

Well NCEA 1 Requires 8 Literacy And 8 Numeracy Credits And Like Said Earlier, Without These They Can't Goto Level 2. And Even Then Level 2 Requires 8 Literacy.

I Also think Your Looking At It The Wrong Way, Just Seeing How Many Credits Pass You Doesn't Mean Its A good Thing.

When You Finish School You Get A Printout Of All The Credits You Earned, So:

e.g.

A C.V.

"I Want To Be A Computer Tech" I Got NCEA Level 1, 2 and 3.

Your Boss

"Sorry I Don't See Here That You Took Any Computer Courses Or Have Credits On The Subject"

They Might Want To Pursue Maori Language Or Something Like That So That's Why They Should Pick That Class.

Computer Courses Have Around 40 - 90 Credits Each Level, I Completed My NCEA Through Computers, Statistics, Extra Computers 1 Hour After School, English, Physics, Electronics, Chemistry. They All Add Upto Around 180 Credits.

There Are Plenty Other Subjects That Have A Lot Of Credits Involved.

p.s. Do Not Believe Those Little Handout Things You Get, The Teachers Can Bring In Extra papers For Each Class And Bulk Up The Credit Amount.

Does This Answer The Post, Prob Not But Like This Post Was going Anywhere :animal_rooster:

Stuff is easier if you're brown.

Brb, getting a spot in law school just because Law is poorly represented by Maoris.

Pita Sharples is a dirty separatist & along with Hone Harawera & the rest of the Maori party that should be lined up against a wall and shot for high treason.

What really grinds my gears is that they only reason that they are in Parliament is because of the Maori seats. Its like being polite is the only reason they're there - its totally anti democracy. People who have merit should be there regardless of creed or colour.

The education system is a shambles anyway - NCEA is so bloody easy to pass its a joke. Its a system based on mediocrity with no incentive to excel. What is worse is the devaluation of the tertiary system because everyone feels like they have to have a degree to be worth a damn. Whats going to happen in 20 years when every old bugger with technical knowhow retires is there is going to be a massive skill shortage. Which will be supplemented by half arsed workers that we get in who will band together and there will be a workers revolt and then we will no longer have a country of our own.

Oh god.

Edit: I'm part Maori so this is okay for me to say. BUT NOONE ELSE.

Edit2: Pro solution - get rid of Maori seats in Parliament, make school hard and those who don't do well at school encourage technical skills.

???

Profit.

Edit3: Heck you can even get credits for picking up litter.

this might be true

(during my time at school 4-5 years ago)

you needed English to pass NCEA level 1/2 but not Maori

but you need an A to pass first level on the way to become a doctor but only a C if your a Maori

also the NZ system is RACISM INTENDED

to go along with what sam said, in my opinion, school should be equally difficult everyone, no matter the race or religion.

Also, i find that Maori are treaty too unfairly in some ways but no harsh enough in others.

Some juicy stats to back up what i just said.

15% of the population is Maori, but 50% of the prison population in Maori. I think that the government is too strict on laws, and some officers put race into factor.
